Loved this reader!!

It's so nice to get a break from American accents-don't get me wrong-and this just really brought the story alive because it meant that I had this new accent in my head for when I read a physical copy of this book. Awesome :)

Absolutely Brilliant ❤

This series is my absolute favourite; one I can read and now listen to again and again and again. Humphrey Bower has a magnificant voice for this novel and was absolutely perfect in my opinion. He brings one of my favourite characters to live for me in an unforgettable way, drew me in from the moment he spoke the first few sentences. I don't believe you could find a better person to read this book. He brought this book to life and I'm so ruddy glad he's the reader.

When I first read this book, it was strange and different. It started with a talking dog, noisey thoughts and a whole new world on another planet. Even the writing style was different from what I'm use to. But as I continued, I was pulled in by this unique writing style and the main character and his companions. I fell in love with Todd Hewitt and was captivated by the tale Patrick Ness weaves for us, the reader/listener. Without giving anything more away, I can tell you that the stort only gets strangers and more confusing but Patrick somehow keeps you enticed, enchanted by the mystery and the adventure of our characters until you can't put the book down/stop listening for a second!

If you're looking for a new story to listen to, something different than what you're use to or even just something to listen to while you're doing your daily duties, I highly recommend taking a moment to listen to the sample and maybe sending a credit or some cash on this brilliant audiobook.

superb narration and performance

Original themes, likeable although somewhat frustrating main character, superb narration. Listening to the next book a must.

Difficult read

Struggled to finish this. It's incredibly depressing with very few high points. Antagonists are immortal, and no human child could withstand the truly grueling events these kids went through. Awful.

For young adults only

Keep in mind I'm listening to this in my mid 20's and this was written for 13 year olds.

Worst fiction I've exposed myself to in a long time. There was so much potential in this book that went to waste.
The author never bothers to answer interesting questions about why everyone came to new world, the characters don't go through any meaningful innocence to experience stage. The twist was hardly even a twist, the only reason it's a twist is because it's kept from the reader's knowledge. So much could have been done with the concept of mind reading but the author never makes use of this. How do you escape a village when everyone can read your thoughts? The exact same way as everyone else. Wtf??? They provide the main character with a book filled with answers that he doesn't read because he has poor English skills? Come on, that's an utter cop out. Gahhhh I can't even. If your older than 13 don't go near this thing.
