Publisher's Summary
The world’s greatest detective, Hercule Poirot - legendary star of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile - returns to solve a fiendish new mystery.
Hercule Poirot is travelling by luxury passenger coach from London to the exclusive Kingfisher Hill estate. Richard Devonport has summoned him to prove that his fiancée, Helen, is innocent of the murder of his brother, Frank. There is one strange condition attached to this request: Poirot must conceal his true reason for being there from the rest of the Devonport family.
On the coach, a distressed woman leaps up, demanding to disembark. She insists that if she stays in her seat, she will be murdered. A seat swap is arranged, and the rest of the journey passes without incident. But Poirot has a bad feeling about it, and his fears are later confirmed when a body is discovered in the Devonports' home with a note that refers to ‘the seat that you shouldn’t have sat in’.
Could this new murder and the peculiar incident on the coach be clues to solving the mystery of who killed Frank Devonport? And can Poirot find the real murderer in time to save an innocent woman from the gallows?
Critic Reviews
"What Sophie and Agatha have in common is a rare talent for fiendish unpredictability. They make you see how the impossible might be possible after all." (Sunday Telegraph)
“I was thrilled to see Poirot in such very, very good hands.” (Gillian Flynn, best-selling author of Gone Girl)
"Perfect...a pure treat for Agatha Christie fans.” (Tana French)

What a mystery
One must enjoy the character of Hercule Poirrot to enjoy this book. I frequently had to chuckle at his idiosyncrasies. Quite an in depth mystery with several characters to get to know but most enjoyable for Poirrot fans.

It’s a fair story but leaves you feeling unsatisfied
I am happy to get new Poirot stories but they do lack something that’s hard to put in words.. something that leads to me listening to me Agatha Christie Poirots many many times whereas I could only listen to these once. There’s a darkness to them and the mystery resolution just isn’t as satisfying. I also think that Sophie May capture some things about Poirot but she doesn’t capture guys soul or the full essence of his personality.

Not a good successor to the original Point stories
I had great expectations of this new Hercule Poirot mystery but was sadly disappointed. It moves along at a snail's pace and the explanations of each character's relationship with the others - often in great detail - didn't help. As with most Poirot mysteries, it was necessary to wait until the last chapter to find out 'who dunnit' but even then I only felt relief that I'd persevered to the bitter end.
Agatha Christie herself came to hate the character of Poirot and with 'new'mysteries' of this quality she wouldn't have changed her opinion.
Sorry, I won't be listening to any more.

This is really disappointing. I listened to the end but wish I hadent wasted time on it. Poiret was so tedious I wanted him to shut UP

Poor storyline
The storyline was pretty poor and the twist was a mile long seen from a mile back. Convoluted and a bit bad.

Disappointingly tedious
A fan of Poirot and Hannah’s reinvigoration, so looked forward to this. Sadly, don’t know how a book with SO much going on could be SO unengaging ... No warmth to Poirot and the writing does way too much tell, not show. A tedious shame.
