About this listen

From the Sunday Times and New York Times best-selling author, a new legal thriller about a man who might be the most criminal sitting judge in American history.

In The Whistler, Lacy Stoltz investigated a corrupt judge who was taking millions in bribes from a crime syndicate. She put the criminals away, but only after being attacked and nearly killed. Three years later, and approaching 40, she is tired of her work for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct and ready for a change.

Then she meets a mysterious woman who is so frightened she uses a number of aliases. Jeri Crosby's father was murdered 20 years earlier in a case that remains unsolved and that has grown stone cold. But Jeri has a suspect whom she has become obsessed with and has stalked for two decades. Along the way, she has discovered other victims.

Suspicions are easy enough, but proof seems impossible. The man is brilliant, patient and always one step ahead of law enforcement. He is the most cunning of all serial killers. He knows forensics, police procedure and most important: he knows the law.

He is a judge, in Florida - under Lacy's jurisdiction.

He has a list, with the names of his victims and targets, all unsuspecting people unlucky enough to have crossed his path and wronged him in some way. How can Lacy pursue him without becoming the next name on his list?

The Judge's List is by any measure John Grisham's most surprising, chilling novel yet.

Really enjoyed the book but unfortunately the narration left me annoyed. It was read like she was thinking, or contemplating or questioning every line. Quite strange really and annoying after a while.

Good book, not so good narration.

Great story, well paced , very apparent that the subject has been thoroughly researched. Excellent narration.

Thoroughly enjoyed.

Story line was good, but I found it extremely difficult to listen to. The narrator was monotonous, no feeling in the way she read what so ever. I would avoid further books read by her.

Narration was dreadful

What a marvellous cliffhanger type novel. This comes of course from reading “The Whistler”. I can’t turn off the audio on this one. Just loving it to the max. C’mon John negotiate a thriller film. I’m there!!!

Gotta be a film in this!!!!

I really enjoyed this book. It was realistic and fascinating as far as the dark web aspect too. At first I thought Mary Louise was a bit slow in her narration, but soon adjusted to it and she was brilliant. Will listen out for her other work.

Enjoyed it

Great book

I found the book repetitive in places albeit with a sound development. The narrator did not exhibit much versatility or emotion
so while ok it was below the usual Grisham standard.

Dragged

Two female protagonists was an exciting concept for a John Grisham novel. The story was compelling and well written, though there were a few obvious pitfalls. The description of the interim boss was sickeningly misogynistic, and the ending cliché, but overall another good read by a well known storyteller.

Promising, compelling storyline, some pitfalls
