Great listen

I really enjoyed this audio book, and I learned a good bit about math that I didn’t know. I will put this warning up for some people who have trouble seeing numbers in their head. There are some places in the book that reference big numbers or series of numbers. So those part might be a bit confusing. However there only account for a small portion of the entire book. So if your someone who loves math, someone who’s hoping to give math a second, or someone who finally wants the questions they’ve been asking all their life, where will I use this math in my life? This book is meant for you.

What a wonderful overview of the wide and diverse field of Mathematics

What a great overview of the wide and diverse field of Mathematics. I have enjoyed listening to this book together with my 13 yo son, who had hundreds of questions throughout the journey through this book. What a great conversation starter with a teen who’s otherwise tough to get engaged. I found this book very good to follow. It attracted the curiosity of my teen boy equally as much as mine. The narrator was top notch, too. This audiobook really works, it’s a five star.

Worth it.

Explains math in a way that motivates you to learn. The author, although extremely intelligent, seems extremely approachable.

Wonderful book, narrator and subject treatment.

Steven Strogatz is an outstanding story teller, who surprises the audience with humor throughout what has been, in my past education, a subject of austere dryness. Let me rephrase - a subject of absolute dessication. He incites us to claim our place at the table of the study and appreciation and POWER of mathematics. I finished this book feeling empowered, enlightened, and entertained. Well done.

A special appreciation for the narrator, Jonathan Yen. I found him deightful. Funny, compassionate, respectful of one and all, and excellent timing and comedic delivery. He reminds me of Jack Benny, but replacing sarcasm with wit.

I really, really enjoyed this book, and once I finished it the first time, I listened to it again, immediately.

better read than listened to

very interesting book with lots of real life examples. I got the audible version and missed out on the images/diagrams, which would have helped visually with the topics more, but still very good. the author has a clear writing style which helps you follow along while still showing his enthusiasm for the subject. The narrator does an excellent job at getting across the enthusiasm, even for the harder topics, keeping you engaged throughout.

Mathematics overview

A fun quick trip in arithmetic, maths and geometry that doesn’t labour on the teaching. Like all maths audiobooks can fall down in references to mathematical symbols and graphs but not as frequently as some. Recommended as a refresher
