Publisher's Summary

A man at a crossroads. A thousand-mile hike. A life forever changed.

Keith Foskett was the definition of restless. Drifting aimlessly, he knew a piece was missing from his life. But when a stranger in a Greek bar tells him about a world-famous pilgrim’s trail, the chance encounter sets Foskett’s life in a new 1,000-mile direction.

On El Camino de Santiago, the wanderer copes with extreme temperatures, fake faith healers, and insatiable kleptomaniacs. Threatened with arrest for "not sleeping" and suffering with excruciating blisters, Foskett pushes himself to new limits. Can he find what he’s looking for and make it to the other side?

Keith Foskett’s travelogues have been short-listed for Outdoor Book of the Year multiple times by The Great Outdoors magazine. Awash with vivid descriptions and a cast of engaging real-life characters, the author delivers a humorous and mesmerizing tale of adventure and metamorphosis.

The Journey in Between is a daring travel memoir. If you like indulging your inner adventurer, taking the less popular fork in the road, and visiting foreign locations, then you’ll love Keith Foskett’s transformative tale.

An inspirational travel story

A great description of one persons long walk through France and Spain on the Camino trail. I also enjoyed the narrator who nicely captured the authors journey.

Another goodie!

I read his book about his PCT hike. This one was just as entertaining and vivid with characters. Moved very quickly. Lot’s of laugh out loud moments as I listened on Audible. Have recommended to all of my hiking friends. .

Inspiring and freeing

I think all of us have a certain amount of wanderlust running through our veins, that being said not all can drop what we're doing and fulfill that. I love these kind of books as I can walk along the trail with Mr. Foskett and in so doing live a little of my dreams to partake in these kind of adventures

This book will make you mad

If you have ever walked the Camino or are trying to plan a trip to walk the Camino, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK, especially as a guide to how you should behave. So much wonton disregard for Camino history and tradition. you sir are a thru hiker and that's fine but don't go on Camino and COMPLAIN the whole way about how its not made for hikers or it should change for you. Disgusted by your attitude!

Really enjoyed this book

I read Keith’s book “The last Englishman” about hiking the PCT and was miserable when I finished it, as I had so enjoyed the way he wrote. To my delight, I then saw and immediately bought The journey in Between and it’s a great read. It does help that I walked 220km of the Camino a few years ago, and it brought back all the great memories. I’ve just bought High & Low and would like to know when the audio version of Balancing on Blue will be available?

It was okay

I listened to this on audio, and I think I may have enjoyed it more if I had read it as I didn’t particularly like the narrator. Very well pronounced etc but I didn’t take to the intonation in his voice, so maybe I didn’t fully engage with it as I could have. The book wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I think the story was okay but I didn’t quite keep up with all the characters and I got a bit confused with who was who, and where and when did we met these people earlier in the story. At one point there is a goal to hike around 23 miles a day but this goal seems to have fallen by the wayside and I can’t recollect why. Some interesting interactions though and some titbits of information about the Camino. It’s an okay read rather than a must read.

This puts me off the Camino

I've been planning to do the Camino, but after hearing the stories of curfews and incessant snoring I've been a little bit put off -- maybe I'll change my mind if I listen to some other people. It's a great story and well presented audiobook, although having heard Keith Foskett on Youtube, I'm not quite sure the narrator is a good match for his accent -- I would much rather have listened to this from the author himself.
