About this listen

Some people - a sizeable minority - prefer to avoid the limelight, tend to listen more than they speak, feel alone in large groups, and require lots of private time to restore their energy. Often they feel different, not right, less than. But as Marti Olsen Laney proves, that is far from the truth.

The Introvert Advantage dispels common myths about introverts - they’re not necessarily shy, aloof, or antisocial - and explains how they are hardwired from birth to focus inward, so outside stimulation such as chitchat, phone calls, parties, or office meetings can easily become "too much". Most importantly, it thoroughly refutes many introverts’ belief that something is wrong with them. Instead, it helps them recognize their inner strengths - their analytical skills, ability to think outside the box, and strong powers of concentration. It provides tools to improve relationships with partners, kids, colleagues, and friends, while offering dozens of tips, including eight ways to showcase their abilities at work and strategies for socializing. In short, The Introvert Advantage shows introverts how to take advantage of their special qualities not only to survive in an extrovert-oriented world, but to thrive.

I was quite skeptical but found many things i could relate to and found that I am already doing some of the things mentioned. But I did find that introverts seem to still have to do a lot of ‘extroverting’ things and i kept thinking do extroverts keep doing introverted things?? At times it just made me feel second class and that i just have to accept that i have to work harder to do things that I don’t feel comfortable doing. It was insightful about many facets of our lives, but some parts i didn’t relate to, but that’s ok. It did set in stone that I am a massive introvert.

There's some mix up between introversion and social anxiety. I feel the concepts and ideas are outdated, this was probably written when introversion and extroversion was a new concept

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Interesting content that enlightened me on how to rejuvenate as an introvert, wish I had found it earlier great insite to my family and my relationship with them.

Hearing experiences from the author and other "innies" has validated my own experiences and insights. Knowing that I'm not alone and this is my normal "me" has given me more self-confidence and comfort that I don't have to change myself for anyone who is not like me.

Eye-opening...a great read

To be honest the narrator’s voice puts me to sleep every time I listen to this book so it took me a while to get through it all. However, this book is very insightful and useful for introverts, even if you already know you are one. I started reading this book thinking that I already knew all there is to know about being introverted but was surprised how much new information I learnt and it also helped make me realise that certain parts of me / my behaviour is from being an introvert and not because there is something wrong with me. Highly recommended!

Useful Book!
