Publisher's Summary

Thomas à Kempis' collection of meditative writings from the Bretheren of the Common Life is the most widely read book in the world after the Bible. The reflective devotions have been a heartening friend to great men such as Thomas More, St. Ignatius Loyola, Thomas Merton, Pope John Paul I, and John Wesley.

Learning to live live Jesus is the central task that A. Kempis explores in this classic devotional. This book provides comfort and counsel to every person who seeks to live a more connected and whole life.

The Truths (with capital T) about living within and without

Listening to this book has been the best thing I've done for myself. I only wish I had known about it earlier. The content boils down to two timeless teaching which is also the principle and foundation for spiritual exercise: to praise, love, and serve God and others.
I highly recommend this book.

I need to listen to this one over and over and over

I have read the hardcopy book twice. Having now listened to the book being near rated I absorbed so much more. I will need to continue to listen to this over and over to grow as much as possible in this great teaching.

reads too fast

the narrator really has to read slower. not a good listening to for contemplating. but the content is nice. the way it is delivered isn't.

profound

This book has some very profound truths and a gentle grace that surpasses much wisdom. it is apparent to me that Thomas a Kempis was very close to Jesus. someone say that his model for prayer is too pious or humble, but don't let this book pass you by as it has level of depth that may only be found once a century.

Great inspirational book to worship The LORD Jesus

Encouraging and inspirational if you understand that God has done something for us, Jesus died for us; and secondly God has done something to us, we were crucified with Christ. Both justification and our sanctification are based on finished work Christ on the cross. We are saved by Grace through faith not of works (Eph 2:8-9). As you listen, please remember that you are accepted in the beloved Jesus Christ by faith. You can not evoke from God higher favour by your commitment than He already gave you through atoning death of Christ on the cross and through His resurrection. Please do not turn your sanctification into works of legalism but rather use this book to receive by faith what God has already given you through Christ on the cross and when He came back from grave.

Great companion on journey to God...

...forsaking self to afford room for the other, God, loved ones, and those not so easy to afford room to in our lives.
