They look so perfect—just like Casey and her husband used to be.
But is anyone what they seem?
Casey has a detective sat at her kitchen table.
She has a man bound and gagged upstairs.
Casey will uncover dark truths so life-changing that nothing will ever be the same again.

A little predictable in places but overall very nicely done. Well worth the read.

I found the storyline a bit slow to start and at one point I thought the story was going down a very similar pathway to Lock Every Door, which doesn't motivate me to read more Riley Sager, however when the twists began to unfold a little more thoroughly it was clear the story stands alone.
I found the constant mention of drinking annoying, making the main character harder to relate to. Like a third of the story was her telling you she was having "another Bourbon, a shot of vodka, some wine, gulping down some more Bourbon". I don't care. Get on with the story and spare us all the repetitive nonsense, we get it.
I did enjoy the twist but also found it a bit weird and perhaps not very well orchestrated - as well as it could be. I get that that's part of the mystery but without giving any plot points away, it lacked depth that could have been worked on throughout the story more. I suppose this was to prevent the reader/listener from figuring things out too quickly but it left the story somewhat shallow.
I also find the author goes into a bit of unnecessary detail when she's describing things. Like, she'll be touching a handle and a lot of explanation goes into it despite it being unnecessary to the storyline to go into such detail. I found myself losing interest until it started to get closer to the end.
A little slow but better once into the meat of it.
