Publisher's Summary

At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another.

But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed. Corrie ten Boom and her family became leaders in the Dutch underground, hiding Jewish people in their home in a specially built room and aiding their escape from the Nazis. For their pains, all but Corrie found death in a concentration camp.

Here is a story aglow with the glory of God and the courage of a quiet Christian whose life was transformed by it.

Critic Reviews

"Wanda McCaddon does great credit to the writers of this true story. Her emotional control makes the tension and horror of the family’s plight more real and hideous. The listener is left with a story of extraordinary humanity, goodness and overwhelming love." ( AudioFile)

A Classic

I had read this book as a hard cover years ago and enjoyed it then. Thought I'd revisit it and enjoyed it all over again. The book is based in Holland/Germany but is read by a very English narrator, this wasn't an issue for me. I thought she did a good job. The book is faith based, Christian, but I think even non-christians would find the book positive in promoting over coming your circumstances and overcoming hate to find forgiveness and love even at its toughest.

A true disciple of our Lord and Saviour

For lack of a better Christian word, I was "spellbound" at the reading of this book. I was born 10 years after the war that shaped this remarkable woman and her family. She was extraordinary before her capture but her achievements cannot all be contained in books alone. My mother, though never meeting her, was one of her biggest admirers. My mother herself suffered many struggles in her life of heartbreak and betrayal but she took courage from Corrie Ten Boom's story. One day I will bow at her feet to pay homage to this lady, one of God's generals, in the presence of God and His holy angels and will meet these dear saints who paid such a price for the good of others. The reading was excellently delivered. Thank you'

God is faithful

I’ve known about this book for over 3 decades - but God knows when we need to hear His message - Now living in China this book had much more meaning for me - I felt so many emotions but Joy through forgiveness and surrender rang through and the call to continue to speak the hope of Gods word to a lost world.
The narrator was fantastic , I’m looking forward to hearing the next story Tramp for the Lord by the same author and narrator.

The sweetest testimony in the harshest story

I went into this feeling ready for it to be heavy but the light of Christ shines so boldly through this story it is filled with hope.

Absolutely incredible!

What an absolutely incredible and inspirational life Corrie, Betsie, Willem, Nollie, Casper, Cornelia and family lived. It brought us to tears as we listened, a life lived in the will of God despite the horrific circumstance surrounding them. All glory to God. What a powerful testimony that has and will continue change lives for years to come!

Loved

Read it many years ago. This time I picked up more gems that I’m sure meant more because of my deeper relationship with God. How close she and her sister hearing and obeying God. Well worth reading a few times.

An amazing, powerful story, well written & well read. I had trouble 'putting this book down' so to speak!
I will listen again with my husband.

Thought provoking and incredible story

The story is thought provoking, inspirational and shows how one family put their lives at risk to save others.

However, I listened to the narrative on audible and while the narrator’s voice was clear it lacked warmth … the lady sounded like she was a news reader.
