However, the modern approach to maternity care fails women, families, and care providers with outdated practices that center the needs of institutions rather than individuals. In this audiobook, Rachel Reed demonstrates how childbirth can be reclaimed to center women and support birth physiology.

Love headspace, Love Andi. Love this book.
I have to admit, I'm a massive fan girl for Andis voice, it puts me to sleep (in a good way lol). As a headspace user since about 2016 I've always wanted just a giant 6 hour block of him talking, I'm already sold on his way of thinking/techniques. The app has helped me heaps with sleep, focus, chronic pain, sadness...and this has been perfect during my pregnancy, I plan to play it during labour. It's my safe space, lol. I find the ideas in this relatable as a practical person with an interest in psychology. Andi should do more books ^_^

Preparing & managing the mind for pregnancy!
VERY HELPFUL!! This is the first book I have read (listened to) about pregnancy, and I am pleased it is as it is providing me a platform on how to approach everything that comes next from the perspective of a balanced mind and knowing how to maintain a sense of equilibrium and an internal locus of control as I face all the information and experiences that will come next. I would highly recommend it. I would, however, start with the Headspace App before reading this book so you can get started with mindfulness for "you" first (there is a 10-day free mindfulness program on the app that teaches you in a really accessible & demystifying way), then pick up this audiobook to go deeper in relation to pregnancy.

Not impressed
I was really hoping to find this audiobook helpful, but to be honest it just felt like a big advertisement for the Headspace app and Andy mainly talking about the benefits of mindfulness, and didn't involve any actual mindfullness techniques. Basically just a whole heap of talking about his wife being pregnant and how mindfullness is good during pregnancy.....um well duh!

Terrible
“Don’t stop exercising just because your pregnant”
“Don’t get stressed while your pregnant it will damage your baby”…
This is just a small sample of the terrible judgey advice dished out by Andy Puddicombe, a man who has never been pregnant. Do not read this book if you value your well-being
