Had potential

The Audio performance on this was pretty good for the first half, but the second half was terrible. The narrator Aundrea Mitchell pronounced the lead characters surname incorrectly through the entire novel and included spelling and grammatical errors in her performance. It seriously put me off the entire story, but I continued because I’d already paid for it and had nothing else to listen to. As for the actual story, the idea was good but it really wasn’t portrayed well. For a start the main character is a police officer who sees the dead and her work partner’s name is Jensen and they drive an impala - that doesn’t remind me of a popular television series at all (please note sarcasm). The characters, while having a good background story, lack depth and likeable characteristics. I felt nothing for any of the characters. There wasn’t even a dog to like. I don’t want to shoot a novelist down, the story idea was very good and had loads of potential, but the complete manuscript needed a LOT of work that the author neglected to give it.

good author, horrible second narration

I find it hard to believe that Audible or the author did not listen to Aundrea Mitchell's narration of The Haunting of Rachel Harrway before publishing it. Her tone and intonation as well as pronunciation is terrible, sometimes interfering with the meaning. Also, I find it unfortunate and a bit insulting that although many reviewers have commented on this issue, Audible has done nothing to change it, making me feel that our reviews fall on deaf ears. Luckily I listened to other books by this author narrated by others, otherwise I would never have listened to another of his books after listening to one read by Ms Mitchell.

Great listen!

I was extremely disappointed when the third book finished and the next book started but it was actually the beginning of the story. It is not in chronological order as the last 3 books supposed to be first. There is also a place where the quality of the recording changes and some repeated words / sentences. The story is intriguing and exciting and different. The characters are well written and the plots in each story is well developed and it keeps things interesting. I really did enjoy it.

interesting premise

I liked the idea and the heroine. after a while I became very weary of the continuing theme of children in peril. also...the town really exists and is small. if it had this much crime it would be wiped out. if you plan to have a series...maybe use a bigger city? after the second story, I gave up

great stories, great narration

I enjoyed all books in this set, only recommendation is that I feel the stories we're told in the wrong order. the three Haunting of Rachael Harroway should have been presented BEFORE Lost Orphans.

Nice little mystery series.

Held my interest but it was somewhat predictable and redundant. I don't know if there are anymore that will be added but it could use a followup. All in all, it was pretty good.

Good

Good paranormal thriller with good narration to listen to for hours. I enjoy the authors books and this is with a woman who had been an artist now a police woman. She sees the murdered victims and calling them orphans, and wanting to send them on. Given audio for my voluntary review

Second narrator is a newscaster

I expected multiple narrators in the box set but the second one has a strange pausing pattern, puts inflection on odd syllables and doesn't pronounce words correctly. The syncopation is more like a newscast than a book. She emphasizes the final word of sentences as questions at times? I toughed through some but ended up reading the Kindle version of the other books.

books in wrong order!

So first major issue, the books are not in order and sorta spoil the whole flow. the first 2 books are narrated wonderfully. The last 3 the woman talks too fast and enunciates in the wrong places. you get used to it but it made me crazy. other than that, GREAT story! I really enjoyed them.
