About this listen

The Perry family's new house is perfect - except for the weird behavior of the neighbors, and that odd smell coming from a dark corner in the basement. Pity no one warned the family about the house. Now it's too late. Because the darkness at the bottom of the basement stairs is rising.

well, listening to this horror novel at work I was completely engrossed. I could imagine it like a movie in my mind. The narration was great and the plot too.

definitely give this a read! It spooked the heck outta me.

I got jumpscared at work and almost cried

This would make a great mini series . Story is a good ol fashioned haunted house , I enjoyed the history of the entity that characters were ok not particularly likeable but not bad people either. Some parts were longer than I thought necessary, ending was a little weaker than the rest but it's pretty hard to end a horror well. The narrator was ok, didn't really add accents or do voices overly well but told the story well enough. I will listen to another from this author.

A good haunted house

I found this book really creepy which is exactly what I was looking for. the narrator was good and managed all the different voices seamlessly. I am now keen for another story by this author!

cracker of a creeper

This was a strange book. I really appreciated the narrator, he did an excellent job. I was disappointed by the story itself but it did have some really incredible passages. Really interesting.

This was good from the get go. One of those books you cant seem to put down. I even found myself yelling things out loud,
like 'get out of there'.
Anyway, I really enjoyed it. The narrator was also a good fit.
If I had a negative, it would be the ending. But that is a personal feeling about the book, because I felt like they should have ALL been able to get away. But that's a me thing.
All in all, the book is awesome.

GREAT Book

Started well but began to loose me around the ghost that enjoyed sexually assaulting young girls, the normalisation of spousal rape, and seemingly storyline irrelevant time travel back to the 1700's.

okay but with a few things very wrong

The story itself was OK at best, full of surprise sexual scenes that really didn't fit at all..
The author was trying too hard and it ruined the overall feel of the story.
I'm no prude by any means.. I love a hot, sexy scene BUT this seemed forced at every turn and even the ending didn't quite satisfy.
Definitely not something I would recommend.

No thanks
