Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Best book of the series
I love the whole series, but this book is the best, and both narrators have worked the kinks out of their characterizations. Love it!

cliff hanger
it's a great book. Just like the one before it is a lot to take in but it shined bright for one of my favorite characters and did the rest well.

Love it, had read it, now listening to it again
Love it, had read it, now listening to it again.
As a person that has so many fateful meetings, 6 degrees (more like 3) of separation. I enjoy the story of having a path, that no matter how much you try the web of fate, brings you back to the road you must travel.

Expands massively on first book's plotline
The male voice actor here should be especially applauded. The change in tone and vocal cadence for each character is truly engaging. The plot is pretty standard fantasy, but the weaving storylines come together in a very epic and satisfying way.
