Publisher's Summary

Forbidden to leave her island, Isabella dreams of the faraway lands her cartographer father once mapped. When her best friend disappears, she's determined to be part of the search party.

Guided by an ancient map and her knowledge of the stars, Isabella navigates the island's dangerous Forgotten Territories. But beneath the dry rivers and dead forests, a fiery myth is stirring from its sleep.

Awesome

This book is crazy adventurous , suspenseful and quiet emotional with love and friendship . I loved it all the things. This book had what I personally love in a book. You should read it to know about Isa, Lupe and of course the tibicena demon dogs and there fire master that has come back to destroy Joya, will Lupe and Isa have an adventure and save Joya just as Arintira did 1000 years ago? Find out in this awesome book!

A story for children written in an adult style

This book got a great review on audible so I downloaded for the family (11 and 8 year olds) to listen to on a long car journey. Whilst the story captured the children’s interest, the language and style was more suited to adults in my view, and the struggled with some of it. Perhaps the target audience was older, but the spiritual fantasy themes of the story might not interest an older child so much.

Prefer to read it...

The narrator is strong and I liked the book, but something about the combination didn't quite work for me. I read this instead and preferred it.

Lovely story

Not my usual genre but I did enjoy it. Vivid descriptions and beautiful writing I could imagine myself there on the island.

Excellent, imaginative and gripping

I’m so glad I tried this book. I wondered if a story less than five hours long was worth a credit, but it was really excellent. The story takes twists and turns and keeps upending the expectations of “the hero’s journey” narrative. Without flinching from issues of death, poverty, tyranny/ oppression and enslavement, it is ultimately a hopeful story of courage, determination and redemption.

Beautiful story, rushed narration

A beautiful and imaginative story. Unfortunately the narrator rushed it, but she did wonderful voices for the characters.

Not much story

Beautifully written, but I don’t see what the fuss is about. The storyline was very bland. The sense of danger really wasn’t there, and just not a lot happened really. To be honest I stopped listening towards the end because I knew what would happen and the last 10 or 15 minutes was completely unnecessary

There is a very good execution BUT

The book is very good and you can picture it in your mind very well but if you don't like a slow going book I wouldn't recommend but even if you don't try it out🌊🌊🌊

Title more exciting than the story

I heard this on Audible. What initially drew me to this book was the front cover and title. The girl of Ink and Stars sounds so dreamy and magical and even though there was a kind of magic involved in the story it just wasn't good enough in my view. The story wasn't strong enough or likeable enough. I listened just to complete the book, not because I was hooked or caught up in the story. Sadly this one just didn't do anything for me.
