Publisher's Summary

"I didn't really understand what love was. I didn't know what it meant, that I should've fought harder for it."

Banished from home by her angry father, Julia Devon travels to Bath to fulfill her role as family spinster by assisting her cousin, Lady Macon, in caring for her dying husband.

Nathaniel Hastings's life runs in a predictable pattern, until a routine visit to one of his ailing patients brings him face to face with Julia, the woman who broke his heart five years before in London.

Julia and Nathaniel find themselves unlikely allies as they work together to tend to the family's needs, fend off Lady Macon's scheming brother-in-law, and avoid confronting the pain of their shared past. But could this accidental meeting be their second chance at love?

** For all the Jane Austen lovers **

I thoroughly enjoyed this take on my personal favourite Jane Austen classic, Persuasion.

A blooming romance between Julia and Nathaniel is cut short by her tyrannical father; their time apart only serving to prove that distance makes the heart grow fonder.

Rachel Beresford’s narration was absolutely beautiful; the perfect touch to Sally Britton’s ever-entertaining penmanship.

This sweet regency romance gets all the stars from me.

Slower than first book

Can be read as stand alone novel.
Slower and frustrating with no one saying what they really want/feel/mean as is frequently the case in these historical novels.

A Charming Little Romance

As the second installment in this serious, I continue to enjoy both the writing and story. This is a clean romance which is so refreshing and so hard to find these days. I appreciated that while the book is on the shorter end, like the first the story had perfect flow for it's length.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a book of this quality available with my Audible membership and am headed straight for the next installment!
