About this listen

Robin Loxleigh and his sister Marianne are the hit of the Season, so attractive and delightful that nobody looks behind their pretty faces.

Until Robin sets his sights on Sir John Hartlebury's heiress niece. The notoriously graceless baronet isn't impressed by good looks, or fooled by false charm. He's sure Robin is a liar - a fortune hunter, a card sharp, and a heartless, greedy fraud - and he'll protect his niece, whatever it takes.

Then, just when Hart thinks he has Robin at his mercy, things take a sharp left turn. And as the grumpy baronet and the glib fortune hunter start to understand each other, they also find themselves starting to care - more than either of them thought possible.

But Robin's cheated and lied and let people down for money. Can a professional rogue earn an honest happy ever after?

Contains mature themes.

Completely Enjoyable

A wonderfully written and narrated story with great insight to the way of life and the thoughts of the upper class from that particular time period.
The sex scenes were not out of place and enabled the reader to understand the characters more fully.
it was a delight to listen to.

wonderful surprise

I found this book by following the narrator, and was delighted I did.

This story pokes a subtle finger of social morals of the time. not just about the law around guys, but also woman's rights and the class system.

very entertaining and I'm now listening to other books by this author thanks to a very talented narrator

True English odd couple

Loved this story and narration, so very English with fantastic use of swearing. Robin and Marianne Lockley of Nottingham, brother and sister pretty as a picture, are the most charming and scheming fortune hunters, even when their facades slide. Hart is so gruff and unlikeable initially but Robin sees his kindness and loyalty to friends and family, and together uncover his passion and imagination. Such a well suited odd couple, perfect for each other despite lifetime’s of baggage. Wonderful secondary characters, well fleshed out and important to story. Love 18 year old Alice explaining mathematical probability to Robin and how there is no such thing as luck in gambling. Difficult concept for all gamblers.

Great story and even better narrator!

I can never fault Cornell Collins and his narration.
As for the story, it was a solid romance all around and exactly my kind of tea during this time of the year.
Amongst my top 5 faves from KJ Charles.

Well Narrated and Excellent Storytelling.

I didn’t know just how much I’d enjoy this one. I only came by it because I followed the narrator across from similar books I’d just listened to. I would put this on every night last week and really looked forward to hearing more about Robin, Hart, Marianne, Alice, and exactly what would happen to them all.

Love overcomes all

A most enjoyable tale of impossible love and the pursuit of joy and fulfillment . Intertwining sub plots that eventually conclude in magnificent rows and happiness for all the main characters

Performance and story line are A+++. Tension, the relationships themselves - all written beautifully. Keeping this book in my collection :)
