another voice woven in to same character

there was a few instances where the females voice changed to another females voice for a few words in middle of a sentence as same character....not sure why this was but it did cause a break in the flow.

It just never ends

What disappointed you about The Gender Lie?

The first book in the series started off good. It had good flow and reasonable challenges. Great chemistry and a fun twist. Book two I had to push through, and this one I'm surprised my eyes didn't get stuck in the back of my head. I tried so hard to like them but it just never stopped. And it doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon.

Would you ever listen to anything by Bella Forrest again?

No, I love book series, but not all stories have enough "umph" to get passed two or three books. I will have to return the series, honestly it was just too much bleh. I tried.

What does Rebecca Soler and Jason Clarke bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good question, I enjoyed these two, honestly I don't think I could have read it without them.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Book one.

Any additional comments?

I hate being so negative!!!!! I was so excited about the series, but it just fell flat and kept right on going. :(

This is the book I stopped reading/listening at

I couldn't keep reading after this point. I really enjoyed the first book and where it went, and then the second book grated on me and now I am stopping at the end of this book, especially after finding out there are like 5 more books? The world is not made well enough for me to be invested in the main character overcoming this dystopia. It's like a bad Hunger Games type of story except the bad guy keeps changing. The main character seems to have become a COMPLETELY different person than in the first book? I'm not interested enough to keep reading and I warn others to not even start or just read the first book and then cliffnotes the books after.

Slower than the first two

This book was not as riveting as the two before it. It had its moments at the beginning, but I soon found that I couldn't wait til it was over, so that I could start the next one. Hopefully #4 will be better. I'm not giving up on the series yet.

Drab and full of overused words

I've really enjoyed the rest of the series but this book fell so short I can't continue with it. The author overuses words like smirk to the point that it is hard to not roll your eyes.

Stop Smirking

Lots of complexities added many layers of interest. I didn't see the plot twists and they made the story enthralling. However, the author needs a thesaurus and a bit of imagination as the overuse of the verb "smirk" became almost intolerable (almost because I am quickly getting the next book in the series).

How to stretch 1 book into 7.....

Extremely wordy and spends way too much time on one incident. Book 2 was bad but I had to put audible on 2x speed so I could get through book 3. Book 3 ends up in basically the same place it started so don’t bother.

Starting to lose interest

I like the story line between Violet and Viggo. So, this book made me lose a little interest in the series. There is a lot of action, which is nice, but I am beginning to get bored with this series.

Lacks Depth

I think that the underlying story is fantastic, but I wish there was more thought put into the characters. Vigo is turning into a very 2D character. Violet is okay, but isn't believable as a character based on her past. It's turning into another one of those "teenagers save the universe by somehow being give all this authority" stories. It just is very predictable and lacks depth.
I won't be reading the next one.

Bad writing and over dramatic narrator

I did not like this book, or the series. I got to this book and just couldn't take it anymore. The book is poorly written, using the same words over and over. The female narrator was way to over dramatic on times that shouldn't be. It was hard to get through the book. Very unfortunate because I enjoy the storyline.

Good Story, Terrible Editing.

Enjoying the series of the 'Gender Game' so far, however, the editing is terrible with the same word being used several times in a sentence. The first time I heard this I put it down to 'one of those things,' but, when it happens in just about every chapter, it becomes grating. I've found this a theme in the three books I've listened to so far.

The storyline is good - even if a bit cheesy at times. Overall I'd have given it a five star, had a half decent job been done on the editing.

irritating writing but good story

It feels a bit like the author has got a bit giddy with words they liked the sound of and used them repeatedly and sometimes in the wrong context. possibly caused by a bit too much F7 use.
I found myself skipping bits that went on a bit, but the story line is interesting with some completely hilarious mills and boon(?) style writing to describe the main characters relationship.
Will probably make a better film than book

Great story, great performances, bad editing!

I love the story and the characters of this series and have listened to the first three books in really quick succession.

This is the first where I have felt the editing it quite poor, near the end of the book you can really tell where they've cut pieces together as the tone of the actors voices change slightly. No bad comments on the excellent performances though, just shoddy edits.

Rebelious Violet & Viggo...

So pleased this series is still full of twists and turns and mostly fast paced.

I love the Violet & Viggo relationship that's developing further as they start to trust each other.

Still feel there's lots more to come from this series, I'm hooked.

Interested to see what becomes of the boys......

not the best of the series yet

it was a good continuation to the previous books but I could say not the best one so far( and hopefully yet)! worth listening if you enjoyed the previous though!
