Publisher's Summary

The Dark has nearly consumed the planet. Men and beasts have been stripped of their minds, their bodies twisted to serve the Master's will. Her army now numbers in the trillions and is led by two supreme generals. Even the mages have no power to stop her. Driving the survivors to a last bastion of freedom, she calls for the decimated army to surrender.

But mankind stands defiant.

From the ashes of nations the people have united, and together they brace for the impending storm. Bereft of retreat or refuge, they hold to a single hope - that the Oracle can destroy the Dark before everyone is slaughtered. Facing the end, the Oracle must rise to her birthright and find that which can cleanse the Earth of darkness.

An amazing conclusion to a brilliant series

What an amazing story! The detail in the characters and storyline made me feel like I was learning, struggling and fighting alongside them. I laughed, cheered and cried right to the end.

Fight, Fight, Fight, then Deus Ex.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Too many passages of fighting. Just way too many. And they seemed to get a little repetitive. After 50 fights against OVERWHELMING odds, you kind of start to lose a little something for the fighters. Especially after they do some of the stupidest stuff ever. Hey, let's leave this OP guy alive - who pops back up to kick your teeth in. Didn't see that coming? I did.

If you’ve listened to books by Ben Hale before, how does this one compare?

Other than the fact he kept confusing Derrick's voice with Iris, awesome.

What three words best describe Derek Perkins’s voice?

I don't know.

Do you think The Forge of Light needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Maybe because it would be almost interesting to see if he could write more than three paragraphs without a 20 paragraph BAH fight scene. The ending was pretty optimistic, despite how dark the whole series was. Don't see how it can continue.

Any additional comments?

I"M DONE. YEAH. So dark! Almost depressing. SPOILERS: You killed Jack? and Breaker? and most terribly of all Hawk - once. But a jerk like Cayden gets two or three? Really? And isn't the myth "from the ashes, the Phoenix will rise"? That you didn't is one of the biggest FAILS of these novels. What's up with that? What's the point of Hawk being a phoenix? What? OOh that still gets my goat. And all those WTH moments. And no last words from Iris? Ugh!

Pretty good, interesting story line and very creative but there are a few points that should be corrected

Not to detract to much from your story as it’s entertaining and I do like how the characters progress, but there’s some points that should’ve been researched that are quite obviously wrong. For example the halo of dawn turns sand to glass and melts metal instantaneously and is only a heat of 2000 degrees. It takes 3,200 degrees to begin melt sand to glass, and do it instantaneously would require much much more as well as to melt metal like butter. So great story but these types of detail mistakes are pretty amateurish.

By unspoken accord, they liked the book.

A fantastic conclusion to a wonderful series with lots of re-read potential. Other than the overuse of the phrase "by unspoken accord", it was well written and well executed.

fantastic story, and gripping from start to finish

The series started off a little like Harry potter, but soon took it's own direction. The author did a great job of mixing myth and magic with a modern war/battle epic. He made the characters easy to relate to and like/loath and he made the battles thrilling whilst making you want to hear more. Another great narration by Derek Perkins he's by far my favourite narrator, and I just live the way he says BOOM so funny.

Great and enjoyable!

At times the writing is a little simplistic but in general this and the whole series is very enjoyable.
Performed by the engrosing Derek Perkins the story will sweep you along on a fantastic journey! Well worth a read or listen!
