Publisher's Summary

Contains books one and two of The Forever Series.

Jon Ryan is irreverent, cocky, funny, and walks with a swagger. He says what he means, he says what he wants to, and, in fact, he says what needs to be said.

The cocky fighter pilot turned astronaut is also Earth's only chance for survival. The planet Jupiter, thrown off orbit, will destroy Earth in less than a century. Jon volunteers for the most ambitious, desperate mission ever conceived: His consciousness must be transferred into an experimental android host, where he'll live an immortal - and lonely - life. Jon's only companion on his 50-year voyage is his ship's irritable AI.

After successfully journeying for decades and locating a suitable human resettlement, Jon begins to discover the wonders life can hold, including the power of family and, for once, true peace. But no good deed, or good man, goes unpunished.

The US president wants him dead and is willing to sacrifice his own people to eliminate Jon. An alien species has vowed a holy war to eliminate all humans, either on Earth or wherever they might run. Only Jon can protect humans from their enemies.

With the best planet for colonization ruled by an ancient, malevolent species, there may be no hope for humans in a crowded galaxy. The limits of human technology may not be sufficient. The limits of Jon's endurance may not be enough. His endless enemies may prove to be unstoppable.

Jon may have forever, but does humanity have any future at all?

solid story, but a bit predictable

loving the story and humor.
the story gets let's down by obvious events which the main characters miss the point. even though they are supposed to be highly intelligent.
but a solid story which I am enjoying.
and read really well!

Extremely well done

Extremely well done and performed. I found the story a little dark or morbid at times. I wanted a little more humour & tongue in cheek.

Not to my taste but many others would greatly enjoy this!

Humorous and entertaining

If you’re looking for light hearted humour, this is for you. Narration was brilliant but the storyline left me wanting. Good listen but I like my sci-fi a bit more serious and action packed.

Throughly entertaining!

I was not sure about this to begin with however after listening for 30 minutes I was hooked. A good mix of tech, humour and story reminiscent of Bobbieverse, with a more relatable feeling. Thoroughly enjoyed the first two instalments, off to start the 3rd right now.

Amazing story and top notch narrator

My favorite books are the ones which don't spend an entire page describing what a room looks like and just focuses on the story at hand, this is one of those books. Every part of this story was exciting and fun. Can't wait to start the next in the series!

Fun low tech sci fi

I've read a few android/cyborg books now, and enjoy the genre. This was a little different - funny, irreverent, more like 50s pulp sci fi with modern day humour. The science is iffy and secondary to the story. The protagonist Captain John Ryan is likeable for the most part, but a bit dim. I'm not a fan when the reader can figure out what is going on and the hero cannot, I find it frustrating, and this happens in lots of situations. It IS part of his character though - most people around him are smarter than he is. The narrator does a great job of the voices and telling the story.

It was a lot of fun and I'm glad I listened to it. I didn't like it enough to continue the series beyond the first book though. As far as android/cyborg stories goes I preferred the Bobiverse series, the Murderbot Diaries, and the Imperial Radch series to this. Perhaps just a choice of style.

Definitely worth the time to enjoy

A plausible storyline with plenty of unexpected twists throughout the story. Competent inclusion of technological possibilities that kept me tied to my listening device. Include the human condition of envy greed desire combined with desperation , throw some alien villians into the equation and you have a great plot.

Great characters and story

The forever kept me listening on and on. The characters are likeable and always gave me a good chuckle. If you've been listening to the expeditionary force books or the Bobiverse series, I think this will be right up your alley.

Stop bringing back the worst villain ever created.
