Tiffy and Leon share a flat

Tiffy and Leon share a bed

Tiffy and Leon have never met....

Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they're crazy, but it's the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy's at work in the day and she has the run of the place the rest of the time.

But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven't met yet, they're about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rule book out the window....

This audiobook contains an exclusive interview with author Beth O'Leary and narrator Carrie Hope Fletcher.

Awful! Chicklit if that's what you're into...enjoy

I realise that I am in the minority here with the reviews, however I had high expectations and feel very let down. The characters "Tiffy" and "Leon" are one-dimensional at best.. she is "so pretty" as we are repeatedly told, and quirky and he is just torture and very, very dull. The story was an interesting concept of 'hot-bedding' - 2 people sharing a residence on rotation so never there at the same time, but wasn't the ending inevitable?! The narration was jilted and the accents terrible. Hmm, I am struggling to find something positive to say. **Spoiler alert** The shower scene meeting was excruciating and not in the manner it was meant to be by the author portraying the awkwardness, but excruciating in the dissection afterwards in conversations with Tiffy and Leon's friends' discussions about it... we get it, he got an erection!! It was so bad I skipped from there to the epilogue, saving myself from enduring a melodramatic yawn-fest and also saving a heap of time as the epilogue was exactly what I expected! Utterly predictable, chick-lit fiction and perhaps I am not the demographic audience for this but it was absolutely dreadful in my view and I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Feel-good story... a bit too predictable

I enjoyed listening to the story even though the end is pretty predictable from the start. this book is more about the journey than the end.

the narration was beautiful

such sweet story told in such a cute way... It wasn't as predictable as some romance novels can be and had characters that were flawed in beautiful ways that made so much more real and loveable.

literally ruined my day, in the best way

Stayed up until 4:30am to listen, struggled everytime my timer ended and just couldn't resist pressing play again. Next day was ruined except that I had the comfort of the second half of the book to distract me. Haven't gotten lost like this in a book for years

Loved it

This book ticks all the boxes. The characters are relatable and I found myself going through all sorts of emotions. I was looking for something to listen to on holiday, something that’s fun and lighthearted with a good storyline and a healthy dose of romance. Couldn’t stop listening, absolutely loved it.

Unusual, fascinating, and a delight to read

I enjoyed this book a great deal more than I anticipated. O'Leary does a good job at building a cast of characters and throwing them into a unique and magical situation, and allowing us to watch them develop through the eyes of our two beloved protagonists. The performance given by Fortune and Fletcher is also to be admired: each of them bringing the world to life from the point of view of two very different people. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something heartfelt and a little bit quirky.

Utter Shite

I only listened to the end because I wanted to be totally sure I could accurately review this terrible, tedious, predictable and unbelievable book. The male narrator’s voice was so annoying I wanted to punch him in the face. Weak, bumbling idiot characters who you end up hoping die so you don’t have to hear about them ever again. The female performer was good, although she could only read what was already written, so she could t save this sorry mess. It will probably be made into a movie worse than PS I Love You. Complete drivel.

This book makes me want to love again

It's so uplifting and interesting story about 2 people can fall in love in a witty way. Imagine how much we can know about one person without the benefit of his/her appearance. By the coffee cup in the sink, the clothes left in the rack, the book he is reading in the bed stand and the smell of her perfume lingered in the flat. It is just defined a new kind of romantic gestures when you are learning how to take care of one and another. Leon, Leon, Leon... my heart can't stop humming his name. Post-it notes replace messenger and bring the air of vintage into their daily conversation just like a slow dance. One more positive thing about this book is it brings up the information of female's emotional abuses and I'm happy that contemporary now is doing a good job to convey controversial and necessary issues to readers. And I must give the author credit for her well plot. It's quite simple but the series of events have arranged intentionally and rationally.

Perfect!

I loved this book so much! It’s funny, heartwarming, beautifully written and unique. I loved the idea of two people sharing a bed but never meeting, it’s such a fun idea and so very different. Leon and Tiffy are both fantastic characters and I loved watching them get to know each other through just sharing a space together and their post-it notes to each other. I’m so pleased I chose to listen to this as an audiobook as the two narrators are absolutely perfect in their roles and bring the book to life beautifully. I can’t rate this highly enough

The best love story of this year

Love the story, full od bumps and turns, not boring any second. The end scene with Justin was little too rush for me but ok. Just I really had to get used to narrators voices, esp. Leon. Not the most pleasant one.

Lovely, original rom-com with excellent narration

I enjoyed this audiobook very much. It's perfect, light escapism combined with the kind of originality that hooks a reader from the blurb to the "Audible hopes you have enjoyed this program," tagline. The narrator choices are both excellent, and both voice actors do an excellent job in bringing their characters to life with apparent ease. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loved a good rom/com, especially one with a twist - a genuine delight in this dark, uncertain time.

so much more than romance

I rarely pick up a book in the romance genre, and now I wonder why. Because. I. Loved. This. Book. The synopsis gives you the feeling that this book will be cute and fluffy, but it isn't. This book deals with some heavy topics (phsychological abuse) and the author succeeds in carefully handling this topic without making is seem less problematic than it is. Tiffy and Leon are both very loveable characters. Although Tiffy has been mentally abused and her self-confidence is almost completely gone, she still remains true to herself. She demonstrates this through her exuberant clothing style and she does not let her friends' or colleagues' opinions change this. The way Leon deals with Tiffy's eccentric personality and her deep emotions is heart warming. Can there be more Leons in this world, please?

I needed a lovely story to brighten my life. This was it. Absolutely perfect. Beautiful narration, just perfect as Tiffy and Leon. I usually send my read books to the cloud, but this is staying. I will listen again and again. Can't wait to hear another from Beth.

Unique, feel good love story!

This book is amazing! I pre-order it after reading about it and it did not disappoint. I loved the premise of the story and seeing it develop was amazing. It’s engaging, with a lot of depth and still has that feel good love story in it despite the dark themes at times. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a interesting London love story which has character, humour and the grit of London living. Will definitely listen to this audiobook again!

A new favourite romance

Tiffy needs somewhere cheap to stay. She sees an advertisement for a flat bed share. Leon works night shifts and needs extra money to pay for his brother's lawyer fees. They come up with an arrangement: Tiffy has the flat during the evenings, weekends and nights, Leon during the day. The number one rule of the bed-sharing: don't meet your roommate. Leon was the sweetest character. He was reserved, almost shy, and only comfortable around a few people he was close to. He works night shifts as a hospice nurse. When we first meet Leon, he is in a relationship with Kay, who subtly seems to put him down, hates Leon talking about his brother (who is in prison for a crime he did not commit) and thinks he's wasting his time trying to track down one of his patients' long-lost love. Needless to say, Leon needs a more supportive, caring girlfriend... Enter Tiffy! Tiffy works for a DIY craft publisher, a job which pays her poorly yet she absolutely loves. Her love for bright, unusual clothing continues into her own wardrobe and - to Leon's horror at the beginning - their flat. Tiffy was "quirky" without it being over the top; both characters seemed like real, whole, actual people. Tiffy is also reeling from a recent break up with her ex, who has left her for another woman. The author tackles emotional abuse in relationships so well with Tiffy and Justin's past relationship. How someone can be gaslighted and manipulated and not even realise this is what is happening to them. How the impact of such a relationship can be carried forward in your life long after it has ended. Tiffy's experience is something that sadly happens and the author broached this topic in a sensitive yet empowering way. In the first half of the book, our main characters don't actually meet. This is something that would usually put me off, yet the tension kept me hooked. Instead, Tiffy and Leon communicate through the use of post-it notes they leave around the flat. This was so cute! Tiffy and Leon's post-it note conversations were endearing and funny. I have never wanted two characters to end up together so much. They were the perfect balance for each other and - especially after their past relationships - both deserved a kind, loving partner. The build-up of their relationship was tension-heavy and had an amazing pay-off. I honestly don't know how anyone couldn't love these two. And I also loved the supporting characters! Mo and Gerty, Tiffy's friends from uni, were great. Gerty appeared cold and blunt but was also incredibly loyal. Mo was just a sweetheart. I also loved Richie, Leon's brother, and the side-plot of his wronged imprisonment was engaging; tragic yet hopeful. Carrie Hope Fletcher and Kwaku Fortune did a wonderful portrayal of these characters and their narration added an extra sparkle to the already wonderful story. At the end of the audiobook Carrie also interviews the author which was really interesting.

Cute easy read

Cute fun chick-lit book. The bits about the ex-boyfriend made it stand out from other books in the genre. Both narrators do a good job; however I did not care for the way the audio was set up during phone conversations

Annoying mobile phone audio!

I couldn’t get on with this book. I was a bit doubtful as to the storyline as it just didn’t seem plausible that two strangers would share an actual bed as well as a flat! But I thought I’d give it ago as some reviews were good. Sadly my initial thought was right and I just couldn’t get into it. In addition within the first hour alone there were about 3 phone call conversations that were very annoyingly narrated like the person on the other end of the phone was miles away! It was very irritating and also me and I had to keep turning the volume up and down! Just not for me to have returned for a refund!

Funny and life affirming

I don’t usually read contemporary romance comedies but as this was recommended to me I gave it a go. It is fabulous. Humorous but natural dialogue and monologue with relationships forming the tension, but with serious issues giving a solid backbone. Well worth a listen as the narrators are top rate.
