Publisher's Summary

Many Christians have never understood the fear of the Lord, which builds passion and intimacy into their relationship with god and makes their lives real and pure. In this rerelease of his book, John Bevere dispels the false understanding of god. Understanding why and how to fear god is the beginning of knowing Him as He yearns to be known. In his lovingly confrontational style, Bevere challenges believers to reverence God anew in their worship, prayers, and daily living. This book will inform and encourage believers to intimately know god like never before.

As stated earlier, should be required reading!

Other than the Bible John Bevere's books should be required reading for every Christian and certainly for anyone who is in the ministry full time. His insight into scripture is phenomenal and the truth he speaks through God's Holy Word touches you to the core of your soul. I recommend this book to all believers who are looking to go deeper in their relationship with God.

This book needs to be listened to several times.

You need more than one listen to unlock the wealth of wisdom in this book. So far I have listened to it three times. Each time more insight is unlocked in me and I am able to get a deeper comprehension of the truths that the Bevere points out.

A Half Truth.

The author has not delivered the whole message of what it means to fear God. The word translated "fear" in many versions of the Bible comes from the Hebrew word yirah which has a range of meaning in the Scriptures. Sometimes it refers to the fear we feel in anticipation of some danger or pain, but it can also can mean "awe" or "reverence." In this latter sense, yirah includes the idea of wonder, amazement, mystery, astonishment, gratitude, admiration, and even worship. The "fear of the LORD" therefore includes an overwhelming sense of the glory, worth, and beauty of the One True God. Unfortunetly the author clings to fear and dread.

Fantastic teaching

I wish John did his own narration. This is a fantastic book and I appreciate that is wasn't fire and brimstone, but full of great teaching to bring more clarity to the subject.

It opened my eyes to a fresh perspective and understanding of the fear of the LORD.
