Publisher's Summary

A humorous adventure from the author of The Complete Compleat Enchanter. He looks like a cross between a dragon and a catfish, and he can bend iron bars with a flick of his hand. In fact, Zdim, the mild-mannered demon, is a scholar of philosophy and logic. So when he's drafted for a year's servitude on the mortal plane, Zdim is certain a mistake has been made.

Contractually obligated to follow orders . . .

A great audio performance of a book that was on Gary Gygax's "Appendix N" list, the story of the demon Zdim from from mortals call the 12th plane. He is summoned to the prime plane and required to obey the commands of the one who summoned him, or of anyone to whom his contract has been sold. He is contractually obligated to follow orders to the letter . . . even if that would be to the detriment of the one giving the orders! It is easy to see one of the great inspirations for the fantasy RPG convention that summoned beings may try to twist the commands they are given, following their letter but not their spirit, even though Zdim himself is not malicious or trying to twist anything, he's just trying to understand the confusing mindset of mortals . . .

Good story, brilliant reader

An enjoyable experience - worthwhile, even - that includes a good bit of humour ... and performed excellently.
