"What a fantastic ending. What a tremendous achievement. A gorgeous, borderline flawless trilogy." (Seanan McGuire)

"Told in an enchanting, confessional first-person, we're with koli all the way." (Daily Mail)

"Marvellously expansive and claustrophobically menacing." (Publishers Weekly)

a dystopian masterpiece

A classic hero's journey that's rich with a cast of remarkably diverse and interesting characters in a terrifying, but not all together impossible to imagine, dystopian future. Thoroughly enjoyed all three books. And the narration just enhanced the overall experience.

Excellent, but!

As with the other two books in the series this one was also excellent, However, the last 1/4 of the book tended to jump between characters far too often for my liking.

This series is amazing.

It's hard to describe The Rampart Trilogy in a succinct way so I won't even attempt it, it crosses a few genres and is narrated superbly. I have listened to the trilogy three times since purchasing it three months ago and still love it. These books are so timely in terms of current affairs and touch on many issues present in the world today. The characters are superb and the story is so well written you can picture everything mentioned. I think everyone should read this trilogy.

Utterly Brilliant.

I enjoyed, but was not blown away by the first two books in this series, however this final part did everything it should by way of building to a crescendo (twice) and tying up all lose ends. Absolutely epic, and a real page turner, one of very few audio books I've been able to just sit and listen to for hours on end (I normally need to be travelling or such to enjoy). Narration was also fantastic, making perfect use of three very talented actors to split the tone of the story. Loved it. Cannot wait for the next Cary masterpiece.

Outstanding dystopian trilogy

An excellent trilogy and this final book doesn’t disappoint; the ending is hinted at and expected but still satiating.

I like the concept but some obvious holes.

The narration of Koli (Theo) sounds morbidly depressed & suicidal in this last book. Had to spped up the voice to actually stay awake even though I was enjoying the story.

Totally immersive...a must read.

This is up there with my all time favourite books. The author’s style is totally engaging with brilliant figurative language and dialogue that keeps the plot moving along at a good pace. I loved all the characters and believed in them totally. The women have total equality in this post-apocalyptic society but it all feels so natural. Other themes such as gender identity, democracy, fascism, ecology, pseudo A.I. Sentience are all there but do not hit you clumsily over the head. They are beautifully woven into the narrative. The ending was really satisfying. I can definitely see this being picked up as a film screenplay, with ample opportunity for CGI. Carey is now firmly one of my go to authors and I cannot wait for his next novel.

Enjoy the ride!

Sitting here crying at the end of this book, what an ending. If you have been here from the beginning, you may be shocked at Koli’s fall or, when you think about it, expecting it all along. Either way, another excellent book from MR Carey.

Absolutely fantastic

After reading this final chapter in the life of Koli, I find myself joyful and sad that it's ended. The book was great, read well, although I missed Monona original Asian voice. I loved the whole trilogy. Will likely listen to them all again.

Another page turner by M R Carey

Like all of M R Careys audio books the choice of narrator is excellent, making the audio experience a absolute treat and the Koli trilogy is no exception. M R Carey also consistently manages to create characters that I connect emotionally with. Cup on this occasion was my favourite but that is not taking from the others as there were many.
I read a couple of reviews regarding part 1 of the trilogy and some said that the book was written for the tween market. I cannot agree or disagree, although, I am a 47 year old man, father of two and loved the series, I recommended koli to my mate who is a 49 year old man and he also, loved the series. So I am either scoring low in maturity, or some people are a little bit too serious in life for their own good, sorry for the slight.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the books, the only problem I have with M R Carey books is that I am always left with an empty void after finishing them. I need to give myself a few days off before I can start anything else, which if you are wondering, is a positive.
