Publisher's Summary

The anti-diet bible that calls time’s up to poisonous beliefs about food, weight and worth.

Dieting doesn't work.

Not long term. In fact, our bodies are hardwired against it. But each time our diets fail, instead of considering that maybe our ridiculously low-carb diet is the problem, we wonder what’s wrong with us.

But it’s time we called a spade a spade: Constantly trying to eat the smallest amount possible is a miserable way to live, and it isn’t even working. So f*ck it.

Caroline Dooner tackles the inherent flaws of dieting and diet culture and offers listeners a simple path to healing their physical, emotional, and mental relationship with food. What’s the secret anti-diet? Eat. Whatever you want. Trust that your body knows what it is doing. Oh, and don’t forget to rest, breathe, and be kind to yourself.

Irreverent and empowering, The F*ck It Diet is call to arms for anyone who feels guilt or pain over food, weight, or their body. It’s time to give up the shame and start thriving. Welcome to the F*ck It Diet. Let’s eat.

Critic Reviews

"The F*ck It Diet is not only hilarious, it is scientifically and medically sound. A must read for any chronic dieter." (Christiane Northrup, MD, New York Times best-selling author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom)

"There is only one Caroline Dooner. She is funny and wise and unafraid to call bullshit where she sees it. And diet culture is nothing but bullshit. That's why we're lucky to have someone like her, reminding us all that it is possible to break the diet cycle - and while it may be hard, it's not necessarily complicated. Sometimes it really is as simple as saying, 'f*ck it.'" (Kelsey Miller, author of Big Girl: How I Gave Up Dieting and Got a Life)

I Get It!!

An enlightening, logical take on what to me can be or is a confusing and baffling life situation! The author presents the message simply and compassionately. I hope she keeps writing.

Refreshing take

Such a refreshing take on diet and quitting dieting. I greatly enjoyed the audible version and I think hearing the author read it as it’s intended to be heard is the best. Greatly enjoyed and highly recommended

I feel so much more equiped to start healing my relationship with food and my body! If only the rest of the world could have her amazing outlook on food and bodies!

Everything I Needed

I want this book to go VIRAL and take over the world. If I could shout this message from the rooftops I would. Its just what every woman needs to hear and learn about undoing the hell that is diet culture. Thank you Caroline for writing such and epic book.

Skinny Person Advice

I liked this book to begin with, but as I got more into it, I realised it was basically a slim person who gave up being as neurotic about food so maybe she’s now a little less skinny, but still very slim. Not helpful for people who really have spent a lifetime battling overeating. It basically tells you to go for it - not helpful!

Ignores scientific fact. Not for binge eaters.

I'm not going to slam this book completely because some of it is useful for if you want to stop dieting and get over your fear of gaining weight etc. There are two reasons I can't rate this book highly and wouldn't reccomend it. 1. This book completely ignores scientific proof that being overweight is linked to health issues quoting "correlation is not proof" but then goes on to make claims like "being overweight is linked to lower mortality" as if the correlation IS proof when it suits, ignoring the fact that many people who are overweight lose weight while they are dying of an illness and aren't overweight at the time of death, so the facts are twisted here to suit the message of the book. 2. This book quite effectively addresses chronic dieting but doesn't take into account the habit created while binge eating. Not restricting is not going to help a binge eater to recover if the habits are not addressed and this will, contrary to the authors claims, cause people to become dangerously overweight and will never free them from their binge eating. In summary, yes parts of this book can be useful, but only when used alongside some understanding and acknowledgment that the habit of binge eating is a HABIT that needs to be broken. Personally I found the book "brain over binge" to be much more helpful.

This book is great for thin, obsessed dieters.

If you are a thin/normal weight person, who lives obsessed with dieting and what you eat and how much you exercise, this is your book. And I can even call it a great book. If you are, as I am and lots of people are, already overweight and already suffering from all the problems excess weight might bring you, it is sadly not. And yes, sorry to burst your bubble, being overweight isn't nice, happy or healthy for most. I actually agree with most of the concepts mentioned, specially the restriction theory, but this book does not take into account the abundant access to food we have today, the incredibly sedentary lives we live, and the fact that most people use food to console themselves constantly and will eat themselves to death. This is written for people with under or normal weight, who can easily put a few pounds, even if socially that scares them to death. It is written for the aesthetic dieter, not for the people who cannot lose weight, no matter how much they try. And sorry, you lost me on the emotional part of the book. Lots of people are in touch with themselves and their body, have dealt with their traumas, don't live hiding their feelings and have no problem with how they look in the mirror, and keep gaining weight. So, a great book for some, but not for all.

Life changing book

Absolutely bloody brilliant book... TOTALLY LIFE CHANGING. Caroline has summarised the somewhat bewildering area of intuitive eating and body acceptance movement and put it into an easy to understand format. I’ve read many books on the subject but for anyone new to this area who is SICK TO THE BACK TEETH OF DIETING this is a brilliant first book! TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT 👍👍

Fat Acceptance Book

This is a VERY dangerous book that ignores science and in doing so, ignores facts about being fat. it also encourages binge eating for people morbidly obese, which just feeds their addiction. avoid this awful audiobook.

Excellent anti-diet book.

Excellent book with the tools you need to sack diet culture and live a more peaceful life with food. Lots of information on why we have bad relationships with food, and how we can change that. A good mix of empathy and humour. Thank you Caroline.
