Publisher's Summary

David Rivers is an elite-level assassin. He’s an expert in the art of violence. Honing his skill first as a Ranger, then as a mercenary, and now as a CIA contractor conducting covert action around the world.

But in his secluded mountain home in Virginia, David Rivers lives a double life. There, Rivers is known as a caring husband to his new wife and the doting father to his young daughter. Soft targets to his enemies.

Half a world away, on a mission to assassinate a foreign operative, Rivers uncovers his worst fear. An imminent attack on US soil will occur in four days. The target is in his hometown. And his wife and daughter are mentioned by name.

Enemies of my country

Oh wow l have never seen a team fail as much as these guys, one disaster after another. Maybe l am used to movies that show success after success and then l big failure etc. But David as the main character is extremely flawed, maybe that’s the point there are no perfect soldiers. Still enjoyed their story thanks!

Exhilarating

Thoroughly enjoyable and descriptive story, delivered well by the narrator. I love the details in the military actions too

I finished it. Barely.

Lucky I was doing other things while listening to this. I probably wouldn't have made it to the end if I was overly focused on the story.
"Elite", is hardly a term I would use to describe the lead character.
Mediocre, at best. Which describes the book as well.

A great read, but read “Greatest Enemy” first

I listened to this awesome book before digging a little deeper and finding the start of the David Rivers character journey. You should definitely jump into Greatest enemy before listening to this one.
I did drive around the block a few time so I could keep listening to it for a few minutes more as the excitement caught me.

Boring and predictable

This has been done to death by too many story tellers. It is so boring and predictable that I gave up.

Couldn't finish it

This book had potential but unfortunately a poor story and a voice I couldn't continue to listen to meant I didn't finish it.

Listened still questioning why

So the story base was a good one. The telling of it was not. I was meant to believe the s team was an elite group group of warriors, selected to covertly fight for their country? Yet they constantly failed until the end. Made decisions even I wouldn’t have made as they were obviously bad one. The wording of their comms at times sounded like kids acting out being a seal team.
I forced myself to listen to the entire story, it wasn’t worth it.
