Caution Spiritual Seekers: You Might Just Find What You're Looking For!

Underneath the turmoil of thought, emotion, and personal will, there is a flow. If you're reading these words, you've probably felt it - the natural movement of life, the truth that beckons below the surface of things. What would happen if you were to stop avoiding this universal energy, and instead completely embrace it?

According to author and teacher Adyashanti, herein lies the heart of spiritual awakening - and it's likely to "end your world." Why? Because with spiritual awakening, instead of a new version of you, you find no version of you - your true nature beyond any point of view - "that which is continually partaking of all experience, in each and every instant."

Straight Talk on the Nature of Enlightenment

More and more people today have had a glimpse of this genuine kind of awakening, only to see it slip away after a few hours or days. Adyashanti calls this the "I got it/I lost it" phenomenon that perplexes so many of his students. For those caught between what he calls "non-abiding" awakening and the ultimate state of "abiding" enlightenment, Adyashanti offers The End of Your World - his first in-depth audio course about the remarkable yet enigmatic process of spiritual awakening. With straight talk and penetrating insight, Adyashanti helps you navigate the pitfalls and cul-de-sacs that "un-enlighten" us along the journey, including: the trap of meaninglessness; how the ego can "co-opt" realization for its own purposes; the illusion of superiority that may accompany intense spiritual breakthroughs; and the danger of becoming "drunk on emptiness."Inquiring Sincerely into Every Aspect of Your Life

"Full awakening comes when you sincerely look at yourself, deeper than you've imagined, and question everything," teaches Adyashanti. With 12 bold sessions about topics ordinarily kept private between student and teacher, The End of Your World is your invitation to join Adyashanti for an honest investigation of what you really are - and how to live when you discover it.

excellent teachings

Coming from someone who had a Kundalini Awakening and pure consciousness for around 3-4 months, everything he says resonates completely with what I felt in that time and it's fascinating that he had an early awakening at a young age, before what he calls the real awakening. I have seen the glimpse of pure consciousness like he mentions and am hoping down the line, I witness complete awakening, and get to hold onto it permanently next time

Straight talk about awakening

I have most of Adyashanti's books and this is going to be one of my favorites. Adyashanti knows this topic and I have learnt a great deal from him. Especially loved the interview at the end. I would not hesitate to buy more of his work.

woohoo i love this stuff

beautiful. it is exactly what you need if you are in the stage of awakening where your personal drive and motivation has seemingly didappeared leaving you with a state of being that on the surface resembles depression and when expressed appears as nihilism, but at the root of your sense of identity everything is fine and dandy because all is one. this book helps you get your head around operating from this new perspective.

My favorite Adyashanti

Would you listen to The End of Your World again? Why?

Yes - and I have - several times. This one feels a little more "raw" than Adya's other books. I really connected with this one.

Have you listened to any of the narrator’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love all his books, but this one was particularly good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.....it's a little too "meaty".

Any additional comments?

Just really loved this one. Adya is so approachable - so human. He feels more like a friend who has been through the trenches and is passing along what he's learned - rather than some elevated guru.

clear and understandable

Adyashanti is a western born awakened teacher for our times. He speaks in terms we can comprehend and is subtly moving us towards our selves with each eloquent sentence. Thank you!

quietly blasting through the usual zen-fare

For those of you who have labored through obtuse, circular language and the niggling sense that some one is simply reading from their own journal while you are trying to find some usable insight and answers between work and making dinner; this may finally be a book you can derive some actual information from!

It is most likely a book for those who feel they have had at least a glimpse of another way of being, maybe not as good for those wholly new to the concept of enlightenment?

There is very useful insight into the various facets of awakening and how to deal with this in the everyday. Practical yet highly enlightened ways to nourish and use those moments of unbounded clarity to find deeper insight and extended awakening WHILE you are living a life of work and family etc. That he is attempting this is so rare as to be nothing short of extraordinary in and of itself! But he is quick to explain how this is not a self-help book, retaining the true nature of zen artistry, in a way that is clear and understandable — at least to me!

Adyashanti also exposes the various ways you can get caught in your attempts toward enlightenment. For me this was incredibly valuable information, I am already inclined to say even life transformational information! We shall see...

Anyway, brava Adya! and thank you!!!!

Broke open my head (in a good way)

It's wild because this is listed as a book, and is available as a book, but the whole program seems like someone talking to you about their direct experience.

Adyashanti's teachings come through loud and clear and touch the heart of what it means to be truly awake.

I will be listening to it again (and again).

straight forward

one of the most straight forward, honest book about the waking up process. no fluff! first "spiritual" book I have read that talks about the Whole progression, the ups and especially the downs, the times when you feel stuck, or lost or questioning everything, all in a no frills context.

A Top Recommendation

I would put this book near the top of any list for those beyond the basics of spirituality, enlightenment or Buddhist study.
Adya provides many powerful pointers, as well as, lots of very practical wisdom to use now and later on your spiritual voyage of deeper enlightenment.

Invaluable and rare insights

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Adyashanti shares invaluable and rare insights about a relationship with life seldom spoken of, that is, living life with eyes wide open in perpetual wonderment. These talks are not so much a guide to spiritual attainment. They do not discuss spiritual practices or method. What they do offer is reassurance of the validity of that inner, intuitive intelligence, that 'little voice' that represents an alignment with the path as it opens up. They serve as an encouragement to surrender and stay present in the face of whatever arises, trusting that this is where liberation can only ever be found. Stay with the One who Knows.... Onwards!

Somewhat dry

What disappointed you about The End of Your World?

There were not many anecdotes or examples that I could really relate to. I've learned so much from spiritual teachers who talk a lot about their lives or people they've worked with, for example Pema Chodron. In comparison but this felt rather abstract.

Would you ever listen to anything by Adyashanti again?

maybe

Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrator?

not relevant, the book is of talks given by the author himself. He's not an actor

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

determination to read it till I got something out of it. I did eventually.

Any additional comments?

Maybe the blurb should make it clearer that this is for hardcore spiritual truthseekers rather than haphazard listeners like me.

If you have reached a time in your spiritual journey where you are beginning to experience moments of pure awakening then this talk by Adyashanti is invaluable. His guidance is very powerful and extremely useful. I don't think there is anything else quite like it out there.

Beginners to this subject seek elsewhere.

Very very slow. Murray knows his stuff, but poor delivery. NOT FOR BEGINNERS! Misses the target, except for listeners who already have this level of understanding. If you want to answer the question of transformation in a lived sense, seek elsewhere; if you enjoy an academic gathering of ideas then go for it.
