Publisher's Summary

The End of Money is an essential introduction to cryptocurrencies and the blockchain revolution, which has been hailed as the greatest advancement since the invention of the Internet.

Murder for hire. Drug trafficking. Embezzlement. Money laundering. These might sound like plot lines of a thriller, but they are true stories from the short history of cryptocurrencies - digital currencies conceived by computer hackers and cryptographers that represent a completely new sort of financial transaction that could soon become mainstream.

The most famous - or infamous - cryptocurrency is bitcoin. But look beyond its tarnished reputation and something much shinier emerges. The technology that underlies bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies - the blockchain - is hailed as the greatest advancement since the invention of the Internet. It is now moving away from being the backbone for a digital currency and making inroads into other core concepts of society: identity, ownership and even the rule of law.

The End of Money is your essential introduction to this transformative new technology that has governments, entrepreneurs and forward-thinking people from all walks of life sitting up and taking notice.

duh! Now I get it.

This book presented the history of bitcoin and crypto currencies in a way that was easy to consume and get my head around it. The narrator and writer added a bit of flair to it and kept the stories interesting and informative.
A must for anyone slightly interested in crypto coins specially if you can't tell a Blockchain from a Satoshi.

Good introduction to Bitcoin

The book goes over the history of Bitcoin as well as some of the fundamental drivers of bitcoin and what makes it work. It explains the risks and rewards involved, how mining works to secure the network, why the transaction speeds are so much faster than fiat currency as well and being so much more secure via the blockchain and cryptography. It's a good book on the subject for sure.

BRILLIANT!! A must have for everyone!

Where does The End of Money rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The End of Money?

Explaining the History of Money and how money evolved from the (misconceptions) of barter trading all the way to today's paper money and of course, how Crypto currencies and the blockchains are changing all that!

Have you listened to any of Mark Elstob’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No this is a first. But really good!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Many lightbulb moments! If you want to cash into Crypto and have no clue what you're doing, read this!

Any additional comments?

Nope. This is a great book for those interested in how money is evolving and if you don't want to lose out, read this!

Good book for beginners

Unfortunately most of this information is rather basic & freely available elsewhere. I was hoping I'd learn a lot more. If you're new to Cryptocurrencies then this book does have plenty to offer. There's an excellent account of the history of Bitcoin & the rise & fall & rise of digital currency. I felt that the book catered toward the beginner & sadly I learned nothing from it.

Informative, well written and educational

A great way to go from zero if not to hero, then at least to informed. Authoritative, balanced and well written, this is a really good first book on the subject for the curious.

Perfect level of detail in a great narrative

It's rare to get an "Intro" book that actually goes just deep enough, and yet remain engaging and intelligible to the novice. Great read, have listened to it twice already.
