Publisher's Summary

My name is Becky. I arrived home to find my husband, Chris, stabbed to death and a gang of men ransacking our house. Turns out that Chris had something that belonged to them. And if I want to stay alive, I have to find it and return it. They’ve given me seven days. And a beating. There is nowhere to hide and no time left to look. So I will stand my ground as the deadline approaches. All I have is a head full of lies and a very bad plan. This is my story.

Rather Twisted Tale

Not sure I really liked it but it keep my attention so that I finished listening to the story on Audible. In beginning I did not care for main character (she seem stupid) then later with twists you learn there is more to her. Still Not a big fan of this book.

Holy Cow What a ride!

Wow talk about a twisty turny gritty delight. This book was a fast paced, thriller about a woman named Becky who comes home to a dead husband and a whole lot of bad luck trying to sort out the mystery.

I loved the uncovering of Becky's snarky personality as the story unfolded. The whole thing was a little preposterous but so much so that it couldn't not be true. This lady's streak of bad luck after bad luck just seemed exactly what would happen to someone who got in over their head in something. How can things get worse for Becky? They DO!!! And fast. We follow Becky's account of the hours and days that followed her finding her beloved Chris dead on the living room floor. The bad guys give her a 7 day deadline to get her affairs in order or she's dead too. You feel for her but then start to wonder. Becky is right where she put herself. And how is she going to get out of it all in time?

I think the narrator did a great job with the voices as well.

Nice twists and turns

I have to say what a fantastic book, the twists and turns just kept coming, In certain parts I thought it was about to slow down a little but proven completely wrong. Narration was very good and this is a big bonus for me as a narrator can make or break a book, but Colleen MacMahon did a great job. Overall the book was a hit for me and eagerly await to see what Andrew Barrett will release next as an audio option, having read several of his books.

Wow

Well. What can I say? Wow!
Start was nice, love, happy couple, middle was erm what the heck! End well no spoilers but what an end!
I listened in 1 day as I needed to listen to it all.
It’s a smasher & the narrator is a well spoken lady who seemed so proper but by goodness she took this to the limit! Played it well & truly.
So so good!!

great book, highly recommended

What a great twisty, fast paced book, and a wry sense of humour. Loved the main character and her humour. Listened in 2 sittings, really enjoyed this. It keeps you engaged throughout.
