About this listen

If they upload again, what will they find?

Audible’s blockbuster original series returns with the much-anticipated sequel.

It’s 2555 and the remaining members of the Phoenix colony, both convicts and astronauts, have fully integrated since they were originally downloaded from cryogenic suspension.

Now, as the countdown to Earth's final day approaches, two groups of colonists prepare to leave on separate missions.

One group, led by Captain Letitia Garvey, will re-upload to the quantum system as they head to Zeta Tucanae to complete the original astronaut mission, while the other, led by Mayor Roscoe Koudoulian, will begin a new colony on Mars, safely away from the asteroid about to hit Earth. But tragedy strikes on the day Roscoe is set to leave, forcing him to upload his consciousness as well. Back inside their virtual silos, the astronauts and convicts alike encounter mysterious digital duplicates that could destroy their stored consciousnesses forever. In a race against time, they are forced to make impossible choices in order to exist in a world where the line between human and digital reality has blurred.

From Canada's most decorated sci-fi author Robert J. Sawyer and featuring Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner) and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner), The Downloaded 2: Ghosts in the Machine is a thought-provoking sci-fi thriller that takes you on a mind-bending journey where identity, memory, and morality collide in a collapsing digital future.

I really enjoyed this book. Great audio performance and unexpected at times. I would recommend.

Great performance

As the heading says, I would love to have more installments of this series. And using Brendan for the narration.. He knows how to deliver the story because he’s got The Right Stuff!

Loved it just as much as the first book!

I really enjoyed this, it built on the first book, added dimension to characters and to the story. All narrators are exceptional.
I personally love that the author embraced their trans character.
My only critic is that I feel it kinda retconned some of Latisha’s ending journal notes I think?
But still a good listen

As good as the first one

The narration was excellent. The plot was a little slow in the middle, but sped up towards the end. Overall, loved it just as much as the first one.

Loved the performance.

I enjoyed hearing about what becomes of the residents of Phoenix.
Disappointing that the recording isn’t as well produced as the first book and the story was a tad thinner.

The sound production with the ambient noise and multiple actors voicing their own characters in each scene was awesome in the first book. This book is the three voice actors putting on a voice to indicate other characters are speaking. It’s not as good as- even though one of them is the amazing Brendan Fraser.

I’m happy to leave the series here. Hoping there isn’t a third.

Good follow up, but less engaging than the first book
