I enjoyed the world building that doesn't explicitly explain itself but still leaves plenty of hints to stoke the imagination.

Characters are believable, consistent and likable.
Story kept me enraptured and extending my bedtime on a few occasions.

As good an introduction to a new fantasy world as Gardens of the Moon.
