About this listen

Contemporary culture tells us the twentysomething years don't matter. Clinical psychologist Dr Meg Jay argues that this could not be further from the truth. In fact, your 20s are the most defining decade of adulthood.

The Defining Decade weaves the latest science of the twentysomething years with real-life stories to show us how work, relationships, personality, social networks, identity and even the brain can change more during this decade than at any other time in adulthood.

Smart, compassionate and constructive, The Defining Decade is a practical guide to making the most of the years we cannot afford to miss.

I couldn’t suggest reading this more but if you are in your 20’s you need to leave your ego at the door before listening. The Author may say things that upset you or make you cringe but you must realise they are not attacking you, it is just suggestions and perspectives.
Ego is the enemy.

The advice was life affirming and direct, yet gentle and understanding. It felt tailor made to me, it addresses to many of my concerns about life. Incredibly engaging.

I wasn’t gripping the edge of the page in excitement of what was on the other side, however this book did display insights from a highly experienced psychologist that has spoken to thousands of twenty somethings. She understands the chaos of thoughts that riddle our brains and has been able to take a calculated approach at how we can control and take action, in addition to producing foresight into common obstacles that limit twenty somethings further down the line.

Scary but needed advice for your 20s. At 29 I felt like I should have listened to this earlier.

This is such an eye-opening book for anyone in their 20s. It made so much sense when the author spoke about building confidence, especially when you're new to the workforce and everyone around seems to be better than you.

It is exactly what I needed to hear

I have listened to this 3 times over the last 2 years, when I feel "stuck" or "lost" and there are tid-bits in the different chapters that really help.
I'm a very self aware person, so listening to these facts and theories helps me reframe where I am at, and then be able to think about moving forward.

As a 23 year old male, I consider this book to be one of the most impactful books I have ever read.

It gives structure, insight and guidance during a stage of life that is incredibly uncertain and ill-defined but equally formative and important.

I think all ages would benefit from reading this book to understand the thoughts and choices required for '20 somethings'. More specifically, I would now consider this essential reading for anyone entering the 'defining decade'

I consider this essential reading for anyone entering the 'defining decade'. I do also strongly believe that all ages would benefit from reading this book, if they need to understand the thoughts and choices required for '20 somethings' today.

Thank you Meg Jay. I only wish I had come across this book sooner
