About this listen

Once upon a time, in a parallel universe, there existed the continent of Triton....

The queen has been assassinated. The Enchantments are under attack. The plot is unfolding. And our lovers, Silence and Mars, Cassius and Elena, True and Farah, and Aramus and Ha-Lah, are forced to separate as treachery and civil war sweep Triton.

Not to mention, the Beast is still a threat to every breathing being on the continent, and it is the destined warriors and witches who must stop him.

The attention of the fated mates is scattered and weighed down with bereavement and heartbreak as some leave Wodell to go to Airen, Mar-el and Firenze.

But they must amass their powers....

The Beast is rising.

I'm really enjoying listening to The Rising audiobooks - I'm finding them super addictive. The constantly changing POV's of the many characters makes it hard to stop listening - that anticipation for when another chapter is going to come around for a favourite character. I haven't been keeping track of how many chapters the characters from the 4 main couples have, but it feels like Aramus and Ha-Lah have the least so far. I'm really wanting more of them, so hopefully I get to listen to their POV's a little more in the final instalment.

Serena has been a very interesting character - she really isn't a very likeable character to begin with, but she learns a hard lesson. I like that she didn't just fade away quietly, she continues on her own path and begins to make amends for her past actions. I'm starting to like her character.

There are some minor (and enjoyable) appearances from the couples of KA's other fantasy series across The Rising - I LOVED The Fantasyland series, so I'm loving that these characters have shown up again.

The actual Beast itself was not quite what I was expecting, but it appears that there is reason for everyone to fear it so much. Moving straight onto the 4th and final instalment, The Rising.

Great story, great cast. Overuse of "Thus" is my only gripe, it becomes distracting.
