Publisher's Summary

Featuring a delightful cast of characters, timeless Buddhist wisdom and His Holiness' compassion pervading every chapter, The Dalai Lama's Cat is simply enchanting.

The Dalai Lama’s Cat is back: irreverent, vain and as delightfully insightful as ever! When the Dalai Lama’s inner circle is set the task of providing His Holiness with a book he can give his visitors, an unexpected volunteer stretches out her paws.

The book is to summarise the four key elements of Tibetan Buddhism - and, importantly, to communicate how it feels to be in the profoundly reassuring presence of His Holiness. Who better to do this than his much-loved feline?

Through encounters with celebrity visitors and her own intriguing adventures, the Dalai Lama’s Cat explains all four key themes, not so much as ideas but as practices to be embodied.

Along the way she even gets a new title - ‘Therapy Cat’. If you have ever sought a summary of Tibetan Buddhist wisdom, albeit from an unusual and whiskery source, this may just be the book to get you purring!

Brings it all together

This book completes all of the previous three cat books perfectly. As with all the story so far, this one is full of great wisdom, thought-provoking, and can only make one want to improve themselves. Suitable for any age including teenagers through to 80-year-olds. Once again excellent job David Mitchie

I just love this book

This series came to me at a time when I was very anxious and suffering depression. The strategies and relatable lessons have helped me greatly. By no means am I cured, but I am coping much better and on the trend towards recovery.

I love HHC! The kindness, self absorption and journey of self improvement is so relatable. The best lesson from this particular book is to recall mind watching mind and to let go of thoughts that do not serve me in a positive way.

The Book is beautifully written, however, sometimes I feel the author/narrator does fail to deliver the range of charisma he has written into his characters. It is by no means and unpleasant listen, yet, I have heard better performances; having said this, I am mindful those were of voice actors, not the writers of the books.

I have, and will continue to, listen to these "tails" of HHC time and time again to remind me of the beautiful lessons I want to continue to implement into my own life, while also branching out into other Buddhist teaching works in order to obtain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings 🙏

Loved it

What a great way to learn about the way of peace. I loved the voice of HHC. I was moved to tears in more than one lesson. I lost my mother when I was 5 so most poignant of all was to learn that she was dedicated to me while on this plane as I know she still is.

I love this cat!

As with the previous three books, there is plenty to love about this book with it's subtle and sometimes not so subtle references to how we tangle our lives with complications about things and events that we can't control or change. It's a reminder that we should take a deep breath, be kind to ourselves and those we encounter and just live in the now. Thank you HHC

HHC is awesome as always

What can I say? It's HHC and this 4th book did not disappoint. I laughed and cried. There was only one small thing that I wish and it had to do with a certain tabby cat and HHC's final interaction with him. I hope if there's a 5th book she'll get a chance to meet him again.

And I definitely hope there'll be a 5th book because I love them all!

HAPPINESS IS LOVING HHC✨

Each book HHC has helped me grow with peace love giving kindness and hope! I'm American and knew nothing of Buddha
until 1994. I fell in love with a Himalayan kitten in 1984. I have always felt animals are special beings. I've had many dogs and cats among other creatures I've wanted to care for. The moment I saw this Beautiful kitten I knew she was special. I wanted to raise and share the joyous feelings they give. The problem was , no one where i lived knew the breed. I could not find a male for her. My story is to long. After a few years we had six beautiful kittens.
They all died because they weren't compatible and her milk was poison. It's called fading syndrome. That was in 1987. My precious Bonnie then suffered an infection and had hysterectomy. No more
kittens. She was the light and joy in my life. She lived to be seventeen years old. She died peacefully in my arms. I've had many other cats since her. Now I'm sure shes come back to me at least once, possibly twice. I'm now an old lady. my last cat left me
April 6th. Im hopeful my Bonnie Blue Bell will come back to me.
Thank you for your enlightening stories told by this lovely cat.
I listen to the Art of Purring and breath and say my mantras with her purring every night.
I listen to one of your HHC books every day. You Are
a wonderful narrator... you give HHC personality plus!!
just one thing...in the last book ... The Four Paws.....you..she mispronounced Kyi Kyi. I adore that name and how she says it!!
It was missed greatly. I am on your websites and you are amazing
man. Thank You For Sharing Your Life With Us All!!!!

As good, if not better, than the first...

I loved the first book in this series, it helped me through a difficult time and I’ve found over the last few years, I’ve returned to it in times of stress. The next two books were also good, but perhaps because of timing or any number of other subjective things, they just didn’t resonate with me as much.

I’m finding lately, with the state of the world (national and global politics, pandemic, etc.) that my temper is shorter than it’s been in my entire adult life, so I was looking for something soothing to listen to and happily found this fourth Dalai Lama’s Cat book. I don’t think I could have found anything better for me for this time. I needed something to help me reflect on my feelings and what I could do to control them, but I needed it to be gentle with me. I honestly consider myself a resilient person, but I think we all have our limits and this book, teaching Buddhism through gentle stories, with a cat narrator and lovely supporting characters, really allows people to look at theirs with compassion and without harmful self-judgement. I think it’s as good, if not better, than the first book.

If you’ve enjoyed the other books in the series, I definitely recommend this one. If you haven’t read the others yet, I recommend starting at the beginning, as the stories of the characters do build throughout.

The 4th book from the Dalai Lama’s Cat is another beautiful tale interwoven with real Buddhist insights.
I love these books, they leave me feeling uplifted, spiritually aware and deeply curious about Buddhism.
Listening to David Michie read them is like a heartfelt hug for the soul. I’m already looking forward to the 5th instalment. 🙏

Last, but not least. Powerful messages

This may be the last (4th) book in the series.. but it delivers the overall picture of its teachings.
I repeat, as mentioned in the other reviews: I got these 4 books near the beginning of the COVID 19 lock-down, and they have helped me immensely during this time. I have read all 4 books several times, and can still find peace and tranquillity when listening to the narrators messages coming through in the stories. Beautiful thoughts and teachings, sowing many positive thoughts and ideas, during a time when so much else is in turmoil and there is suffering all around. I am now very interested in the teaching of the Dalai Lama and his beliefs that go back thousands of years.
My only criticism of this book, is that I thought the last part, regarding Ludo return and the future of the Yoga studio was rushed through. Too much left for interpretation, when I am sure, another chapter or 2 could have rounded all stories off. But the main story and the 4 paths of the Buddha , where beautifully told and nicely rounded off at the end looking at the statue and explaining the 4 parts. A beautiful set of books, well read by the author. Thank you David Michie.

Not as good as the other 3 Dalai Lama's Cat books

I have loved learning about Tibetan buddhism from The Dalai Lama's Cat, but felt that this book didn't have the little insights that the other 3 books had.

5* Kitty Love! An amazing book for so many reasons

This book is amazing... and the one before it (called The Dalai Lama's Cat, listen or read it first).
For cat lovers, those interested in people, behaviour, understanding others, Buddhism and understanding themselves, these books are a really light hearted way of exploring... and to be honest they are just lovely stories.
My husband, boys and I have all been listening now for months... they are also great stories to fall asleep to as well as the voice is lovely and calm... so I think I have now officially listened to this about 10 times over ;)
I now look at my little black cat and think of her as a spiritual being... although her claws are very sharp... maybe a kitty pedicure... read the book you will understand ;) xx 🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈❤❤❤❤❤ 5 star kitty love all the way!
