About this listen

Rosa Larkin is down on her luck in London, so when she inherits a near-derelict corner shop in a quaint Devon village, her first thought is to sell it for cash and sort out her life. But nothing is straightforward about this legacy. While the identity of her benefactor remains a mystery, he - or she - has left one important legal proviso: that the shop cannot be sold, only passed on to somebody who really deserves it.

Rosa makes up her mind to give it a go: to put everything she has into getting the shop up and running again in the small seaside community of Cockleberry Bay. But can she do it all on her own? And if not, who will help her succeed - and who among the following will work secretly to see her fail?

There is a handsome rugby player, a sexy plumber, a charlatan reporter and a selection of meddling locals. Add in a hit-and-run incident and the disappearance of a valuable engraved necklace, and what you get is a journey of self-discovery and unpredictable events. With surprising and heartfelt results, Rosa, accompanied at all times by her sausage dog Hot, will slowly unravel the shadowy secrets of the inheritance and also bring her own long-hidden heritage into the light.

Easy listen, loveable main character, great narration. Enough twists to keep readers engaged but not too much.

Enjoyable romantic book

Great story

I found the narration a bit hard to listen to, and the break between chapters too long which always made me think my headphones had stopped working 😆

Story was lovely narration not my favourite

im only an hour into the book and I'm already regretting spending my last credit on it. I'm so disappointed, the narators voice is grinding on my nerves. She swings from bad to worse. Rosa, the main character, sounds like a strangled Australian, and titch sounds a mix of Irish and English. I don't know if I can finish it. I loved the first book and looked forward to listening to this one.

The Narratoris terrible!

I really enjoyed this change of pace for an otherwise predictable Rom Com. With enough twists & turns in the plot to keep it interesting and a lot more of a contemporary portrayal of the characters it was an easy listening diversion to accompany some mindless housework.

Entertaining

The story line

main character was unlikeable and the narrarators voice was grating especially the "bloody nora"s

couldn't finish it

The voice of Rosa sounded too much like a very young child but the story was good and Rosa’s voice became a bit less childlike towards the end. Like many stories the ending was a bit rushed but answered the questions I had along the way.

Idyllic story in a great setting.
