Summary

Men had built cities before, but never such a city as Diaspar; for millennia its protective dome shut out the creeping decay and danger of the world outside. Once, it ruled the stars. I'm sure I would have really enjoyed this 50 years ago when I was at high school.
Now it's feeling a little dated. Maybe it's just me.
It's classic science fiction and worth the listen.

So glad to have found it now that I can better appreciate the balance Clarke has struck here between a more evolved and refined story telling and his trade mark skill with imagining compelling sci-fi futures. An enjoyable re-acquaintance with a childhood favourite author and probably one of his best novels from a literary perspective.
