And your key to vibrant health may be quitting these so-called superfoods. After suffering for decades from chronic health problems, nutrition educator Sally K. Norton, MPH, discovered that the culprits were the chemical toxins called oxalates lurking within her “healthy,” organic plant-heavy diet.

Does your dog get sad when you leave for the day? Does your cat purr because she loves you? Do bears attack when they’re angry? You can’t very well ask them. In fact, scientists haven’t been able to reach a consensus on whether animals even have emotions like humans do, let alone how to study them. Yet studies of animal emotion are critical for understanding human emotion and mental illness. In The Nature of the Beast, pioneering neuroscientist David J. Anderson describes a new approach to solving this problem.

Story
For decades we have been taught that fat is bad for us, carbohydrates better, and that the key to a healthy weight is eating less and exercising more. Yet despite this advice, we have seen unprecedented epidemics of obesity and diabetes. Taubes argues that the problem lies in refined carbohydrates, like white flour, easily digested starches, and sugars, and that the key to good health is the kind of calories we take in, not the number.

The science of emotion is in the midst of a revolution on par with the discovery of relativity in physics and natural selection in biology. Leading the charge is psychologist and neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett, whose research overturns the long-standing belief that emotions are automatic, universal, and hardwired in different brain regions. Instead, Barrett shows, we construct each instance of emotion through a unique interplay of brain, body, and culture.

Publisher's Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Circadian Code, by Dr Satchidananda Panda.
Change your daily routine, transform your health.
Circadian rhythms are biological processes or clocks that exist in each one of our cells. Programmed to turn genes on or off at different times of the day or night, they influence every aspect of our health from weight and energy levels through to resistance to disease and infection, and how well we sleep.
Now, in The Circadian Code, this new science is revealed, showing that the timings of our day (when we eat, sleep, exercise, work) are more crucial than we ever thought before. And that, most importantly, if your daily schedule is out of sync with your circadian rhythms, you can fix it!
Whether you are a shift worker, a frustrated dieter, someone suffering from sleep problems or chronic illness, or whatever your health concern, The Circadian Code is the key to unlocking your health.
When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your Library section along with the audio on our Desktop Site.

Simple, logistical guide to balanced mental & physical health.
As a 24hr on-call Midwife of 8yrs the info in this book was quite alarming! I’d heard concerns for health - related to stress/sleep/diet before but never heard the reasons biologically & physiologically spelled out.
Even after one week of implementing routine sleep & TRE I’m feeling mental & physiological improvements. I even did a 5 Km run before sitting a Uni exam with noticeable cognitive function during my test.
Will be giving it another listen while taking notes (while making notes next time) - hopefully this code will be the key to a happier, healthier future. It sure as hell won’t have a negative impact!

Outstanding and easily applicable
This was a game changer for me. Although it covers only about four specific changes to my lifestyle it goes deep deep deep into the science behind each which supports my commitment to making these changes in my life. I’ve ordered to physical copy to go over and bookmark.
The reader has an excellent tone and delivery and engaged me throughout.
