Story
Robin never could have imagined that things would go so wrong. Never could have dreamed they would find what they found within that innocuous-looking building. And now it’s too late: They’ve seen what they’ve seen, and there is no time to talk. No time to even think. Not with the caliber of people who are now on their trail. Fleeing is their priority - but even if they escape, it’s uncertain whether they will ever truly be free.

Story
The Compliance Authority does not take kindly to dissidents. Particularly dissidents who have managed to escape their grasp, not once, but twice. Things are about to get a lot more dangerous for Robin, Jace, and their team. Making it all the more urgent to figure out what, if anything, Nathan is hiding - as well as if their convenient allies are, in fact, allies. Because there's only one thing Robin can be sure of right now.... The farther they walk along this tightrope of a life they've found themselves trapped in, the thinner the line becomes.

Publisher's Summary
They call her Robin Hood....
In a world where we have government of the rich, by the rich, for the rich, one girl decides to fight back.
America in 2105 is beset with mass inequality, poverty, and increasingly large numbers of the poor. This, combined with the breakdown of families and marriages, has led to huge economic and societal burdens. A fractured and divided America ushers in an authoritarian government that promises to solve all these problems in one stroke with a radical solution.
Welcome to the CRAS: the Child Redistribution Adoption System. Also known as the cure for America's failing economy, it is the bane of 19-year-old Robin Sylvone's existence.
Under the system, millions of poor families have their children taken and given to the rich. As a single teen mother, Robin fell within the scope of the scheme and lost her baby two years ago. After being forced to drop out of school and become a factory worker in order to support herself, she doesn't see much light in her future - or hold any hope of seeing her child again.
Until she stumbles upon a group of misfits who share her frustrations and desire for change. They are an underground movement of thieves, stealing children back from the rich and returning them to the poor.
Robin will do anything to find her daughter, even if it means tangling with a government that has zero tolerance for rebellion. Even when the penalty is death.
Will Robin find her baby girl? Or is she destined to the same fate all other rebels have met at the hands of the United Nation of America?
Buy now to find out....
Fans of The Gender Game, The Handmaid's Tale, or The Hunger Games will be gripped by this thrill ride through a chillingly warped America.

Disappointing YA Novel - Great Premise
Let me start by saying I really like YA novels and I thought the set up/premise for this story was a wonderful idea. Sad to say I feel like this entire book could've been edited down to 5 or 6 chapters and the characters and world seemed underdeveloped and immature.
Now I don't know if the book was rushed or not but it felt like a story made up on the spot and not thought out. The romance was like two 13 year olds making googly eyes at each other, I never felt the tention nor the connection.
I really like Rebecca Soler's performance but with the characters being so undeveloped, she didn't have much to work with.

sigh
I thought the story sounded interesting. something good and light to listen to on a drive. The writing style is super immature and I feel like it is something I would have written in 10th grads. The narrator is good, I thinlk.... I don't like her but it might just be the copy she is performing.

Boring
If the author had cut out all of the main character’s endless moaning and rehashing of everything six or seven times, the book would be about five hours shorter and a pretty decent first half of a novel. Warning: it ends on a cliffhanger smack in the middle of the only significant action that takes place after the initial introduction. The author needs to learn how to show, not tell, and then how to tell only once. I had to keep hitting the “skip forward” button to move it along and didn’t miss much. This book hits nearly every bad YA trope without managing to tick many of the boxes of “expected but would add spice.” Despite all this, it’s an interesting premise (which is why I got the book in the first place) and it does do some truncated exploring into the world said premise creates. The author has promise, just needs to hone her craft a bit more.

Where’s the plot?

Fun and interesting.
If you have enjoyed Bella Forrest before, you will here. I love this story. It is part of a series so I will wait until all come out until I finish as I find cliffhangers annoying as they get me out of the story a little but, these will be worth the wait.

Why sell book ONE of a series and not book TWO?
The book was good and well written. Very descriptive. The book ends at a climactic point and you need to purchase book two which, as of the time of this review, is unavailable!

I especially like that there is suspense but also character development.I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an audiobook that you don't want to end yet can't wait to finish! Breathtaking and heart stopping
Not something I would usually read but picked it up due to reading absolutely loads over the last few months of covid pandemic and I am really glad I did it was gritty, thrilling rather fast paced in some chapters and very very addictive so much so I am going to get the books available in the series so I can carry on living this adventure. I would state though that it isn’t suitable for people who may have suffered child loss through social services or those who have had a family member kidnapped it would be extremely triggering.
