The boy in a dress☺️

I like the storyline because it has a lot of twists in it.
But I disliked the story because the main character (Denis) has the worst luck ever like: his mum split up with his dad, he got expelled and his dad has never seen one of Denise's football (soccer) matches.
I disliked the performance because that Denis and his brother have different ways on how they speak, but I really like the acted.
I recommend this story to people who like football (soccer) and people who don't like the way other people think about peoples gender.

Not suitable for primary aged kids

As an adult I found the story entertaining but a fanciful representation of the adversity of someone who was different. The reference to porn, encouraging young boys to act in a feminine way and the accusation that political, cultural and religious leaders cannot be trusted is not appropriate for a primary aged child who have yet to develop their critical thinking skills. Definitely not suitable for primary school kids as this was read to my child in grade 3.

Very pleasantly surprised

What made the experience of listening to The Boy in the Dress the most enjoyable?

I have to say David Walliams is a great narrator and made this story very enjoyable.

Have you listened to any of David Walliams and Matt Lucas ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it kept you listening.

Any additional comments?

This was a good book and I have just purchased David Walliams other books I am sure they will be equally as good.

Boringly fatphobic

I'm just sick of books that set up fat people as the villains or persistently associate fatness with negative personal traits or immorality, ranging from sloppy dressing through laziness, to downright malevolence. We turned this book off pretty quickly once we realised Walliams was going to be making endless mileage out of the lead character's fat father. It's a boring and unimaginative way to get your laughs, and also unkind. Not into it. Next!

best story ever

I am only nine and I loved it so so much. I think people can wear any thing they want without being made fun of. I really really loved this story. I personally hate dresses and I am a girl; all I wear is shorts, leggings and tops.

Listend start to finish 10*s

What can I say, I decided to listen to the audio version of this story before booking my tickets to watch it at the RSC theatre in December, I can honestly say I'm going to be booking them tomorrow.

Once you start listening you can't stop, yes it's a children's story but it's still really brilliant and mind catching to listen especially with such real hard hitting story lines in it which alot of children face and have to cope with unknown to everyone else. Thank you David and mat, was a pleasure to listen to.

Wow!!

When I heard the title of this book I knew it would be great but not as great as this! I love how it proves that people can be whoever they want to be. It is hilarious when they find out that Mr Hautrey dresses up as a girl as well. The whole book made me giggle and I would recommend it to people around the age of 8-12!
