Publisher's Summary

Mankind has failed to stop a growing rift for more than a decade. It will destroy all life on Aathon if nothing changes. But when Leo arrives with half of the human army, it seems that every leader is finally intent on stopping this growing rift together. What Leo will find out, however, is that some of these very powerful people don't see the rift as a problem. They intend to use it as an opportunity.

Leo faces many obstacles that stand in the way of destroying the rift, while Andar and Rygen encounter their own issues. Assistance comes in the form an expert mage who has reappeared after his disappearance many years ago, but some believe it was this mage who created the rift in the first place. There are strange things about him, but the strangest of all is that he appears to be the same age as when he disappeared 23 years ago.

As this mage involves himself with Leo and the plot to destroy the rift, Leo must quickly figure out how much he can trust this mage and how much he must rely on himself.

Story picks up speed as it builds on books 1 and 2

Books 1 and 2 developed the background and characters but plot wise were very slow. Very little happened except for brief action in the last chapters. Finally the plot picks up speed in book 3 and is more enjoyable. if you have made it this far, this book should not disappoint.

Not sure what the hate re the price is in some other reviews. Books 1-3 are free and book 4 costs a credit. I'd be pissed if I paid separately for each book given that books 1-2 seemed to be a prelude, but 4 books at the cost of 1 is right for this series. of course audible is going to try to get ppl to spend something on the series - get you invested through the free books to get you to spend a credit. That's just what it does.

Enjoyable series.

For experienced readers, it's not a groundbreaking piece of high brow literature with dazzling prose, if that's what you're after, but it's a well written enjoyable story. I guess it's main focus is the strong bonds created between all the protagonist through adversity and kinship.

....for the naive cheapskates out there, it's a little concept called MARKETING! Maybe you've heard of it? Authors got to eat too you know.

book 3 in the series and I'm still eagerly listening to every moment. I extend my listening for 15 more minutes every night at least 4 times... well done to the author and the narrator. loved it!

it started out great, but its becoming not so enjoyable.

It started out great, but its becoming not so enjoyable. I think I have realised I don't really like old-worldy time zones, it's very sandles and pitchfork sort of era, i also dont really enjoy how the females are portraited, its just not for me. however this book has, brilliant magic lore and interesting main characters.

Not worth a credit for the final book

Only listened to the first 3 books in the saga because they were included in my membership, then felt conned into having to use a credit for the final book. It didn’t engross me enough to part with one. Won’t lose any sleep over it
