Story
In enemy-occupied Paris, as the locals go to bed starving and defeated by the war, music and laughter spills through the door of a little restaurant, crowded with German soldiers. The owner, Marianne, moves on weary feet between its packed tables, carrying plates of steaming, wholesome food for the enemy officers. Her smile is bright and sparkling, her welcome cordial. Nobody would guess the hatred she hides in her heart. That night, the restaurant closes its doors for the final time.

When Katja Heinz secures a job as a typist in Hamburg working for Doctor Viktor’s clinic, she doesn’t expect to be writing up top secret medical records. Doctor Viktor treated soldiers for PTSD at the end of the first world war – and one of the patients was none other than Adolf Hitler.... The notes in his possession declare Hitler unfit for office; exposing such a secret would destroy the Fuhrer's reputation, and perhaps even change the course of the war.

Publisher's Summary
From the author of The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci comes The Blue Coat Saga, a compelling and poignant story set in the darkest days of World War II.
She has the power to save the future, but she must face the evil in the past.
In 1942 German-occupied Paris, 19-year-old Leah Manheim turns up the collar of her blue coat against a biting wind as she waits outside Saint-Ambroise Cathedral for English Marine Commando, Aidan McQueen. When she signed up with the resistance she knew all the risks. Luckily her friends smuggled her parents out of Paris and away from the looming danger of arrest and transport to a concentration camp. Leah must keep her wits about her, focus on her mission, and survive….
In present-day Brooklyn, librarian Rose Levi finds a tattered, old blue coat at the back of her late grandmother’s closet. Keep? Donate? Throw away? A lifetime of memories to sort through, wrapped in faded tissue paper, sprinkled with dust. But it’s the packet of Bubbie’s letters tied up in a faded ribbon and tucked in a drawer that gives Rose pause. Can she even believe the words? Rose must keep her wits about her and find the courage to accomplish the task her grandmother has given her….
Critic Reviews
"The Blue Coat Saga (Books 1, 2, 3) by Belle Ami is a time-travel thriller audiobook. It would appeal most to a mixed audience of mature young adults and adults who enjoy historical-based fiction centered on World War II and are okay with hearing about graphic concentration camp descriptions and some violence. One blue coat serves to connect present-day librarian Rose Levi with Leah Manheim in 1942. Does Rose have what it takes to fulfill the mission passed down to her by her grandmother?
"The Blue Coat Saga is a well-written and well-narrated audiobook that I found to be rather enthralling. I have always enjoyed books that feature time travel and different character perspectives and this book wove both concepts together in a web that kept me interested from the first chapter until the last. I loved the way the author strove to incorporate the history of the Holocaust in this audiobook in a way that makes the reader feel the emotional impact of it and remember the "never again" promise. Overall, it is a great series and I have to say that I really loved both Rose and Leah as I could not help but become emotionally involved in their stories.
"The narrator of this audiobook is Heidi Bindhammer. Ms. Bindhammer is an experienced voice actress with numerous acting credits to her name. Some of her more notable voice acting credits include Holy Water and Whiskey Scars, The Haunted House from Hell, and Whispers of a Second Chance. Her experience as a voice actress could be easily heard in her ability to make each character sound both alive and different. I really liked how she brought the characters to life audibly for me."
