I first read The Blue Castle many years ago, as a teenager, and whilst I enjoyed it, it just didn’t hold the same appeal as the Anne books. Coming back to it now as ‘an old maid’ in her forties, I appreciate the story’s realistic take on the vagaries of life, on dealing with the expectations that friends, family and wider society place on us. Kelli Tager wonderful performance only added to my enjoyment and new found appreciation for this delightful tale.

The characters were so real, it was easy to get caught up in their lives and to get lost in the beauty of the surroundings. I binged listen in just 1 day!!
