Disappointed

Was all over the place. too many characters to follow, hard to keep up. Not happy with the ending after trudging through the 3 books

Loved the series but ending was anti climatic!

Loved the series and the narrator, but the ending was so anticlimactic after the amazing journey each character undertook! Left feeling disappointed at the end

Very Good, but could have been two books.

I loved the story and performance, and the ending was good (even if it was what most would sort of expect). It was a satisfying and solid final installment in a good series. I just wish the author made this into two books by expanding a few major parts of the story arc instead of bypassing them, but at least they were done in a decent if not good way that do make sense when you think about it. I can definitely recommend the series and this book.

loved it.

very enjoyable story. liked the style in which it was written. tidy ending- all makes for a great read. narration excellent. I pretty much only listen to fantasy these days . Not to heavy with magic. I recommend this to like minded souls.

Good body, hate the ending

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD Besides really struggling with the narrator and the way that they give the same tone and style of speaking to everyone, regardless of background or mood, I love these books and the universe it creates. Wulfric is one of my all time favourite badasses. He carves it up in the go so installment as he sets the foundations to slaughter Rodolph like the pig he is. Unfortunately, the ending feels like it was just tied off unceremoniously because the author got sick of writing the book. It finishes exactly how you expect it to, with no embellishments and flair to add interest. Plot armour is strong with the villain as he gets away multiple times with utter contrived bullcrap as the excuse. Aethelman, cut the effing rock on the floor of the palace Adelaide, get your damn add in and out of the room, no need to linger Wulfric, it is obvious that there's gonna be a fight once you walk in that throne room, bring your gift up and don't let it down until you're gone. Getting knocked out in a single hit by a lowly palace guard is shite considering the feats you'd accomplished up to this point.

Rip my heart out

Seriously. My heart was ripped out. How could that happen. I loved this serious. The way it was read from the master storyteller was fantastic. I bawled my eyes out after that one scene.

Ending ruined series

Loved 95% of the series, then the last 20 min make everything meaningless. I wish I never read the books.

Disappointed

Content was good, story and characters compelling but it felt like 2-3 books of saga was skipped. The story world's passing of time was fairly consistent in books 1, 2, and the first 3/4 of book 3, then ended abruptly. Not disappointed because it was bad, but because it was pretty good and I wanted more.

A Disappointing End

Started great, ended in a rush, really needed a lot more at the end. Feels as though Mr. Hamilton was pressured to finish the book quickly. Unfortunate.

Great story until the last few chapters.

I enjoyed the trilogy quite a bit overall, very well narrated, but felt the ending was rather abrupt and not all that satisfying for such an epic story. Felt like there was at least another book or two missing before the end, but also glad it didn't drag out that long if the result would have been the same.

Somewhat anticlimactic

The series as a whole is interesting and different but the story could have been done in two books or less. The ending springs up at you and you almost can't believe that's it.

A Most Unsatisfying Ending

From the beginning, the bard unwound the epic starting at a coming-of-age period and methodically moving forward in time with Wulfric gaining more fame and glory with every encounter, helped by a special magical battle gift bestowed on him by an old god. The telling held the promise of an epic conclusion at the end.

Regrettably, after the last horrific battle in which his primary protagonist had escaped his wrath, the next we discover that 20-30 years had passed and the ending was not epic but rather pedestrian and ungratifying.

Don't buy it! Just don't!!

Once again another spectacular series ends with the author seemingly tired of his own story and rushing to the end making it lose all the texture and quality that made the first two books worth listening too. May Duncan M Hamilton regret his lazy and disappointing ending.

So good i didnt want it to end

What made the experience of listening to The Blood Debt the most enjoyable? As the last part of a trilogy this book brought the story to an epic conclusion. Something that I must say I was very disappointed with, as I would have loved it to have gone on longer. The story was enthralling and with Simon Vance as the narrator you have a certain winner. Incidentally as some who has chosen books just because Simon Vance was reading them, he is undoubtedly a Master of narrating. In Summary, well worth a read, better if you read the previous two books first.

Sorrow Bringer

The story continues with the Maisterspeaker, whom I think we all know the name of by now. Wulfric, now named Ulfyr, has walked the path and has returned with his prize and becomes the Princess Alice's Champion, but that comes with a price. He returns to Elzburg at the request of the Princess. However, it also serves Ulfyr's purpose. I started off this trilogy with a maybe and it has proved to be one of the best trilogies I have listened to. Simon Vance brought the characters to life and really drove this series forward. If there is one comment I would make its that I absolutely hated the ending.

Narrated amazingly well by Simon Vance!! Bravo....what a narrator you are! The third and last book was as good as the first 2. The story was good, characters interesting and the battle scenes poor. A very respectable 4 stars though.
