From those contradictions, a sense of unity and pride arose, guiding Japanese history and civilizational development through the ages, leaving an unquestionable mark on the world heritage and mankind. But this is only the surface of an astonishing culture that deserves a deeper look.

Publisher's Summary
If you want to discover the captivating history of The Black Death, then pay attention....
The Black Death was the first recorded pandemic in Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire. All across the continent, people learned just how gruesome and horrific disease could be as the plague crossed the boundaries of countries and the lines established by society, killing everyone equally. It showed that no one - not even archbishops and kings - was immune from its grasp. The ferocity with which the plague swept across the continent, even reaching the shores of England, demonstrated how unprepared they were for something on such a large scale. It was the first time that a major disease would strike the continent after the fall of the Roman Empire, but it would not be the last.

Captivating and Comprehensive
I have had a mild obsession with the Black Death for a while now, and I've been reading, listening, and watching a variety of media on the subject. This was by far one of the best in the subject. Covering the general subject to the specific, this explains the Black Death in great detail without making it a dry textbook definition. There are medical descriptions, personal stories, historic context, and even poetry. From experts to beginners, this is well worth reading / listening. And the audio is well spoken, easy to comprehend, and engaging. My ONE (very minor) complaint would be some more background on the origins. They did a fair job, but there's some more history that could have been touched on. 9.5/10
