Publisher's Summary

Intolerance is a beautiful thing...when you understand it from God's point of view.

There is a spiritual struggle for the hearts and minds of our young people. Cultural tolerance is pervasive in today's world. It seems to show up everywhere - in education, government, society...even within the church.

The influence of cultural tolerance is leading a generation to believe:

  • Each person creates his/her own moral truth
  • There is no universal moral truth
  • We are intolerant if we do not endorse the behavior and lifestyle choices of others

You can counter the influence of cultural tolerance.

In The Beauty of Intolerance, speakers and authors Josh and Sean McDowell provide clarity on today's cultural view of tolerance, detect its inaccuracies, and offer practical insight on:

  • Who created moral truth and its purpose
  • How to live out a biblical view of tolerance to people with whom you disagree
  • How to lead your kids and family to understand God's gift of sexual morality, why moral truth is universal, and how to experience love and acceptance that isn't based on performance

Raise up a generation to embrace a values system based on God and his word so they can live as "children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which [they] shine like stars in the universe" (Philippians 2:15 NIV).

Very well said

As a 26yo that loves Jesus and logic but also struggles to share my beliefs at the risk of making people feel unloved or even worse, hated, breaks my heart. His approach is loving and truth based. Love it!

Looking at generational misunderstandings

This book takes a look at possible miscommunications between generations and our current day. well this book does discuss the truth of absolute objective truth It does not dismiss the hearts and intentions of those who see much of reality being subjective, which is a prevalent view among millennials and honestly the general population in our current time. It is definitely worth a read, my only real complaint is that the examples are kind of cookie cutter and I feel like it may be hard for some to practically apply the lessons in this book, though good, to their individual situation.

Encouraging and Empowering

This is a fabulous well thought out work that describes how to effectively communicate. It stirs the reader to be more considerate without forfeiting our convictions. It is challenging to find the balance so as to uphold the truth but still show love and compassion. Well done and worth reading and putting in to practice.

Sort of knew it

Liberal Christianity is quite baffling in the manner it selects & chooses what aspect of the scripture to admonish, adapt, accept or adjust to suit it's remodeled perception & outlook

Angelia G

it was enlightening. it reads at times to condone what the Bible disagrees with but comes back to further explain otherwise. For one reading, who is a nonbelievet, this book may prove to irritate or frustrate.

truth, just truth

started off not really liking where it was going. that was my ego. it was filled with solid truth based on eternal truth not what people want to believe is truth. you should read this even if you're not a believer.

Great book for parents

I wish I had read this book when my children were young. I highly recommend to any parent that is trying to raise their children with a godly moral compass.

Love these guys

Listening to the book helps me to stay focused on loving people don't like and I don't agree with. Loving liberal people is really hard. These books help to train myself to be a good apologist by being a living testimony by loving my enemies. Knowing God exist comes with very little doubt personally, Romans 1:18-32. I was guilty of hating my enemies, it's very difficult trying to leave that in the past.
