Publisher's Summary

"Are you stalking me?”

"We live right next door to each other, New Girl.”

Bay Bishop aka The New Girl is my new neighbor. Glasses, stage crew black clothes, and a knack for fading into the background.

She’s probably the only one who rolls her eyes when I walk past instead of cheering on my last touchdown play. But before I can shove her into the recesses of my mind filed under “Not my problem”, she lands herself smack dab in the middle of my dreams.

I catch her singing with a voice unlike any I’ve heard before that taps into feelings I shouldn’t have for the girl who avoids me at all costs. I need to know why she hates me.

With three months until graduation, the final play is on. Only it’s not for more points. It’s for Bay.

Unlike my success on the field, this win is anything but assured. But I can’t stop myself from taking the risk.

There’s no flashing scoreboard.

There’s no cheering crowd.

There’s only her and me.

The countdown clock is ticking. The only thing scarier about finding my first love will be losing her.

The Art of Falling for You is the first book in the new Fulton U universe sports romance, Falling trilogy.

Falling Trilogy

The Art of Falling for You ( Falling Trilogy Book 1) I actually didn't read the synopsis before listening to this audiio as I read a couple of Maya's books and enjoyed her writing style so I didn’t need to read the synopsis. I fell in love with Bay and Dare's personalities. I just want to be best friends with Bay. Her character was so compelling and her personality is amazing. My heart broke deeply for her. I absolutely adored Dare too and he had me crying too. I absolutely loved the style of writing and how it begins in the present moment and then goes back to the past and then brings us back to the present with a cliffhanger that will leave you breathless and waiting. Such amazing characters and fabulous lovestory.

Tim Paige, Emma Wilder dual narration was perfect. Emma Wilder's performance of Bay was one of my favorites. I felt like she was Bay and she was telling her own story. Her inflection is sweet and she brought her A Game with her emotions. Tim Paige's tonality brought Dare's character to reality. I loved both performances. I didn't want it to end and I'm exuberantly waiting for the next audio in this trilogy.

4 Stars!!

Having picked up the Falling Trilogy when it released this year I've been wanting to get back into it. As soon as this audiobook was announced I knew I had to listen to it! I started listening to it as soon as i could and got back into this world. I enjoyed this listen so much!

Being new to both Tim Paige and Emma Wilder's narration I've been so excited to listen to both of them in this audiobook! These two were great as Dare and Bay! I really enjoyed what both of them brought to this story with their narration and how they captured emotions.

This first book in Bay and Dare's journey got my attention once again and didn't let go! I really liked getting into both characters minds and getting to dig deeper with them. I felt so many things with both characters throughout!

With The Art of Falling For You, Ms.Hughes has created a good story that will have you looking forward to more! I can't wait to listen to more of both Tim and Emma's narration in the second installment in this trilogy, The Sin of Kissing You!

The beginning of an amazing story

I cannot get over how great this book is! The narration is amazing for this book! Since I already read this book listening to it in audio brought me back to the first time I read it. This series for sure is honestly one that I wish I could read for the first time again!

Emma and Tim’s narration just gives me a ton of feels and I feel every emotion that they are conveying. I cannot recommend this book enough! But listening to the audio makes it 10 times better than it already was!

Heartfelt and all up in my feels!

I want to cry. This book had me up in my feels the first time I read it but listening to Tim Paige and Emma Wilder. Ahh! It is so heartfelt, with great narrators bringing the characters to life. Dare and Bay will never not sound like Tim and Emma. This is sooo good!!

Wrong narrator

The female narrator was annoying, way to mature and sad sounding for a teenager. I liked the story but should've used another female voice

Fantastic beginning to the trilogy

The first book in this trilogy gives us the foundation of Dare and Bay. The true question, and it looks like the answer is no, is whether young love can last. A perfect mix of teenage angst and hope for the future.

Dare is the big man on campus, star football player and doesn’t even know who the ‘new’ girl is. Until he hears her singing and then he can’t stop thinking about her. From the outside he appears to have it all, but no one knows what his home life is like.

Bay doesn’t want anything to do with Dare, until she can no longer deny the connection. She is dealing with the loss of her dad. She brings out the best in him and he her. Knowing this is a trilogy there is a cliff hanger, and I wish I didn’t have to wait. The last few chapters were surprising and my heart broke for each character. I can’t wait to see how their story continues.

Tim Paige and Emma Wilder did a wonderful job of bringing Bay and Dare to life. I can’t wait to see/hear them bring the characters to life in the next two installments. Fantastic jobs.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

I NEED book 2 Now!!!

I'm not usually into books that flashback to high-school.  However, I DEVOURED this audiobook in a day! I couldn't stop myself. There's something so all-consuming when you bring together a popular football player and the new girl/theater geek. Bay isn't really the new girl since she's been at the school for 3 years but that's her name at the school. I loved Bay really quick. She's sweet and caring. She's funny and loyal. Her situation made me cry (let's just say I can relate to losing someone I love too so this hit me). Dare was slightly harder to fall for, only because of the stereotype. Once you get to know the him, you see why he is the way he is. I FELT for this boy too. They both captured my heart separately but together, these two consumed my day (I still can't stop thinking about them).

I might have checked Audible twice since finishing, hoping the next audiobook released early because I AM DYING for what happens next. They way the story ended has me all TWISTED UP and in KNOTTS!!! I'm seriously a mess over them and need to know what happens next because Dare, oh Dare, he crossed a line and I'm struggling to see how this is forgivable.  Anyways, I could ramble on way too long about these two... the narration was FLAWLESS. Tim Paige excelled at giving us a strong high school football player.  He was able to tap into Dare's strong demeanor but I also felt that softness coming through. Emma Wilder NAILED Bay's personality.  She came off so caring and a bit blocked but her walls crumbled and I loved hearing a lightness in Wilder's voice.

A great audiobook!

What. A. Book.

Rarely do I read duets or trilogies as I often feel the story could be told in one book. I am so glad Dare and Bay's story will be split up across three books. There is so much to their relationship and I like getting to fully see it at each stage vs flashbacks or being told what happened.

Here we get to see tentative friendship, the wonder of first love, and pain and heartache they both deal with that is difficult to overcome. There are so many sweet moments as Bay and Dare open up to each other and really connect. There's also some that broke my heart, especially the ending. Despite knowing it was coming it still had a huge impact. I cannot wait for the next book to see where their story goes next.

Tim Paige and Emma Wilder did a wonderful job as narrators! I really enjoyed listening to them bring the story to life.

Will give your heart a long, hard workout

Let me start by saying two things. Bay and Dare are going to give your heart a workout and you are going to have to put in some time here. All together, I loved this book and thought it was a solid start to this new trilogy. From the present we rewind for a slow burning look into the character's past and the beginning to their relationship. This did a wonderful job of introducing you to the characters, truly getting to know them and letting you become firmly invested in their romance. There is an abundance of feels to be had as we learn what makes these character's tick. I found both characters very easy to like (I personally felt a stronger connection to Dare.) and they each tugged at my heartstrings. Of course, you are very well aware that something is going to throw a major wrench into the mix, but the actual what is going to keep you anxious and guessing. In the end my heart broke right alongside theirs as book one drew to a close. I really can't wait to get my hands on book two so that I can read more of this emotionally moving romance. Dual narration here, which always makes me happy. I found both voices pleasing, felt they fit the characters nicely and their performances were excellent.

Takes Dare and Bay to a new level

I read and thoroughly enjoyed this book earlier in the year so when it become available in audio I fair jumped at the chance to relive this first part of Dare and Bay’s trilogy. Yes - if you’re new to these stories, this particular book ends in a cliffhanger with Dare and Bay’s story continuing in The Sin of Kissing You and then The Hate of Loving You.

Bay is the girl that most of us probably were in high school. She’s not part of the cool group but not edgy enough to fit into one of the other groups either. She just does her own thing, tries to keep her nose clean and mostly fades into the background. I liked her immensely when reading and I felt Emma Wilder did a grand job as bringing her to life and making me like her in audio, too. Emma’s voice is slightly raspy and she definitely embodied Bay’s songstress vibe.

Tim Paige made for an exceptional Dare. He had a deep enough voice to come over as manly yet still believable as an 18 year old. He brought emotion to the story and I believed ever word he said. Dare is an angry man but with completely good reason. And that reason was heartbreaking. A strong young man who is actually hiding a tortured and damaged soul - so someone I want to wrap up in a huge hug - is my hero catnip. The fact that he could do a bad thing and I still loved him showed me how much I adored the guy.

What I enjoy about listening to audio - especially after having read the book - is that it brings up so many different nuances and really lets you live in the story. I feel like I know Dare and Bay so much better and feel really invested in their love.

While excellent individually, together is where Bay, Dare and the story as a whole, shines. They both come out of their shells both as friends and then as lovers and are really their authentic selves with each other. If there’s one thing I love, it’s a love story where the couple can finally be themselves, and find that another person accepts and loves them just as they are. But there’s also a lot of teasing and banter between our couple - and that definitely made me smile.

This book tells Dare and Bay’s story starting from several months before graduation in their senior year of high school. So I suppose that technically makes this a young adult book, even though we know this is happening prior to “present day”. There is kissing and some sex in the book but it all fits in with the story and not gratuitous. Perfect.

Having read the book, I obviously now know what - or who - the surprise is at the end of the story. It was therefore fun to listen for things in the audio that might have clued me in… yet I still took pleasure when the reveal came.

Yes, this is a cliffhanger but if you’re a fan of Maya Hughes, or just want an absorbing and emotional romance to really get stuck into, I would highly recommend this book to you. The audio is well produced, well-read and is a great way to introduce - or reintroduce - yourself to Dare and Bay. 5 stars.

Bay and Dare!

Dare is the popular and talented football player who appears to be living the dream, but appearances can be deceiving. He is a senior in high school and is counting down the day when he can leave town and attend college on a football scholarship. Even though he attends school with Bay and they are neighbors he has never really seen her until the night he saw her in a different light.

Bay has attended the same school for a few years, but she keeps to herself and doesn’t allow many people close. Not only is music her outlet but it is her hope for the future. She and Drew should have nothing in common, but they touch each on a emotional level and you can feel the depth of the connection between them.

This is the first part of a trilogy that allows us to get to know Dare and Bay, their painful pasts and the experiences that have brought them to this point. They take us on an emotional ride that has you invested in them and their relationship and leaves us wondering what the future holds for this remarkable couple. The choice of narrators couldn't have been a better fit for both the characters and the angst of the story.

The Art of Falling for You

Oh. My. Yes!!!! I wasn't sure how I would feel at the end of the book, knowing this is a trilogy series. I think Hughes is an evil genius that I both love and want to shake the next book from them. Bay and Dare are beautifully broken perfection. Their journey needs more words. Words masterly crafted by Hughes. I simply cannot wait for more. I really enjoyed the narration. It took me a bit to settle into Wilder’s performance, but once I did, it was good. Paige was great.

4.25 Stars

4.25 Stars I've reached a level of trust with this author that I can go into their books blind and for this; the first in a new trilogy from an incredible writer, I did exactly that. We meet Bay and Dare who haven't seen each other for 4 years or so and then we are transplanted back those four years for the back story and that's where we stay. This is so touching. It's deep, I ached for Dare and Bay both. Bay cannot shake off the New Girl tag, and Dare just wants to move onto what's next. This is a tale full of angst and heartache, longing and hope. I cannot stress enough how much I need the next book in this series and I'll be counting the time down real quick. I volunteered to listen to an audio copy of this. All opinions are my own.
