A KILLER WHO KNOWS HIS TRADE

'Gerritsen was a medic before she turned to writing, and her book contains enough grisly details to put you off hospitals for life. But if you like your crime medicine strong, this will keep you gripped' MAIL ON SUNDAY

A series of horrific murders seem disturbingly familiar to Detective Jane Rizzoli. They remind her and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles of those committed by a killer known as The Surgeon, who they recently put behind bars.

While they’re still trying to track down the new killer, the unthinkable happens: The Surgeon escapes. Suddenly, Jane is chasing not one but two brilliant and twisted minds, united by one goal...

Story gets better as it goes on

Better than the first book the characters are more likeable in this instalment. The crime story is fascinating and the villain had me intrigued. I enjoyed the character development of Jane. She showed growth and maturity in this book. Good audio performance overall too.

Poor narration

Love listening to Tess Gerritsen books on Audible, but this is quite poor narration by Anne Fields.

Brutal yet captivating

Couldn’t help myself. Love the psychological glimpse of this killer and had to keep listening. Now for the next in the series.

Rizzoli is difficult to like or care about

I was spoiled by having read and listened to The Surgeon. The whole cast was more interesting and multi dimensional. This was disjointed and most of the characters were either implausible or boring. Or both. I've read some of Tess Gerritsen's stand alone novels so I'll give this series another two books before I drop it.

Struggled with the voice actor

I enjoyed the story but I really struggled with the voice actor. None of the voices seemed natural, you could clearly hear she was trying to alter her voice for each character. She was lowering her voice for male characters to the point it sounded stupid.

There were times where it was obvious that there were different takes, because it was like she had forgotten which voice she was using for each character and the character voices would suddenly switch. So in that regard, there were production issues too.

I would not listen to another recording by this voice actor.
