About this listen
Once in a while, everyone needs to be heard.
Freycinet Barnes has built herself the perfect existence. With beautiful children, a successful husband and a well-ordered schedule, it's a life so full she simply doesn't fit.
When she steps outside her calendar and is accidentally thrown into the generous bosom of the West Moonah Women's Choir, she finds music, laughter, friendship and a humming wellspring of rage. With the ready acceptance of the colourful choristers, Frey learns that voices can move mountains, fury can be kind and life can do with a bit of ruining.
Together, Frey and the choir sing their anger, they breathe it in and stitch it up, belt it out and spin it into a fierce, driving beat that will kick the system square in the balls, and possibly demolish them all.©2022 Meg Bignell (P)2022 Penguin Random House Australia

Don't miss the audio version
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I feel a lot of that was to do with choosing to listen to the audio book.
As an Australian, this was a very cosy read enhanced by Meg's fantastic narration and familiar Aussie accent. This is a book about a choir with a love of music at its heart. The audio book includes plenty of the songs from the text performed by talented musicians. As a bonus the songs appear in full at the conclusion of the book. Fantastic listening experience :)

I loved everything about this book
This story was wonderful. The performance amazing, I would recommend the way to get the most of the book is through listening to it. Touching, well written, heart rending and even after 13 hours I wanted more. Wonderful treatment of women’s rights. I will be looking for more from Meg Bignell.

Funny, wholesome, beautiful
I was completely absorbed by this story and the beautifully crafted eclectic group of main characters. Hilarious at times, gut wrenching and sad at others, I was moved and absolutely loved the ride.

Loved it
I really don’t like audiobooks but have been stuck with them due to vision problems. But I thoroughly enjoyed this story - it wound its way around my heart and had me laughing and crying. Thank you Meg for the blessing of this incredible story about community and strong women.

Loved this story!
My only regret having listened to The Angry Women’s Choir is that it is a story of fictional - if only these events had occurred! Beautifully told - I have shared the link with my own Community Choir!

Loved this!
Such a great read, and really enjoyed the fact that Meg Bignell narrates it herself - she has such a lovely tone and expression, and is so easy to listen to. It's one of those stories that has a bit of everything in it, but all interwoven so perfectly. Loved the familiarity of various places around Hobart too - my home town!

I loved the depth explored of each character…all so real and believable!
I was captured so much by the voice of the author, reading her own story, and by her marvellous accents!
I found a piece of myself in every single woman in this so so enjoyable story. 👏🏻
Thank you so much Meg Bignell…you saved me from going down into the depths of my darkness.
