Great dramatization of Classic Conan Doyle

I love the short story format and the BBC dramatizations. Doyle's writing style is very descriptive and when combined with the speakers accents and sound effects, create a very vivid experience of England in the 1800s!

Please label the tracks

This is a fantastic version of Sherlock Holmes and definitely deserves a 5-star rating. I really want to update my rating to give it one. Once Audible fixes it, I will. What’s wrong with it? It is spread out over 180 tracks running an average of about three minutes each. That’s fine if they want to do that. But please LABEL THEM so we can know what’s what. If I want to listen to, say, The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle, I have absolutely no idea what track to go to in order to start it.

The Definitive Holmes

Without question, the greatest and most faithful adaptation of Holmes in any medium. Merrison and Williams capture Holmes and Watson like no other duo before or since. They are truly a joy to listen to and the dramatization are enticing from start to finish.

YOU HAD ONE JOB, TERRY!

I won't lie. It's amazing content. But - tiny bone of contention: You BBC bozos had three jobs - MAX! 1. DIGITIZE ORIGINAL RECORDING 2. DIVIDE INTO SMALLER SEGMENTS 3. oh and one more... NAME THESE SEGMENTS!!!!! Paying nearly 25$ for something I cannot browse is unreasonable and should be reflected in the overall grade. LOUDLY. SOLUTION: Until then, fellow readers, it is best to avoid browsing. You can add bookmarks and name them as you go through the book and return to your favourites this way. But do let the production pranksters know of the inconvenience by means of a LOW (2 stars?) rating. I know it seems extreme but think about the money you spent and they didn't. This content had already been produced ages ago. 25$? Decent dinner out. 6 overpriced cappuccinos at least. Lots to do with 25$.....

Only let down by the recording.

What did you like most about The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes?

One of the best drama audio versions of Holmes.

Any additional comments?

The audio book does not have separate starts and ends to each story only one long continuation.
Would be better to be able to find the start of one of the stories.

Definitive

To say these adaptations are the best still feels like an understatement. This quality will never be bettered. Monumental.

Great but annoying chapter divisions and titles

really like this but its divided into hundreds of chapters of a few minutes each, just labelled by their number rather than the name of the story. makes it really hard to listen to! please change this

Brilliantly adapted by the BBC

Quite simply this is a fantastic production. Brilliantly adapted for audio and brilliantly acted too. It’s of a style that you’ll either love or hate, but I loved it!

Great stories, well told

Good characterisation. I particularly enjoyed Watson being portrayed as sensible, rather than a buffoon. Loved Sherlock's laughter! Chapters were very short - perhaps Audible could invent a way of specifying 1 or 2 chapters to play, rather than a time.

Wonderful adaptations of stories I love.

Clive Merrison is a perfect Holmes. Michael Wiliams makes Watson a great character, plays him with a little more bite, or spirit than some interpretations. He is very much his own man as well as Holmes' loyal Boswell. The characrer is all the better for it. The guest stars are uniformly excellent. Great listen.
