About this listen

The Hunger Games meets Lost in this spectacular new series. Now a major TV series on E4.

No one has set foot on Earth in centuries - until now.

Ever since a devastating nuclear war, humanity has lived on spaceships far above Earth's radioactive surface. Now, 100 juvenile delinquents - considered expendable by society - are being sent on a dangerous mission: to recolonize the planet. It could be their second chance at life...or it could be a suicide mission.

Clarke was arrested for treason, though she's haunted by the memory of what she really did. Wells, the chancellor's son, came to Earth for the girl he loves - but will she ever forgive him? Reckless Bellamy fought his way onto the transport pod to protect his sister, the other half of the only siblings in the universe. And Glass managed to escape back onto the ship, only to find that life there is just as dangerous as she feared it would be on Earth.

Confronted with a savage land and haunted by secrets from their pasts, the 100 must fight to survive. They were never meant to be heroes, but they may be mankind's last hope.

While I knew the story was different to the tv show, I was surprised to see how centred this was on the relationships that all seemed to be in dramatic crisis at the start of the book. Towards the end the plot began to take shape and the narrative gained some teeth with the two points of danger now presented but, overall, it was mediocre story. I'll probably give book 2 a go to see if it improves but at this time listening to this felt like reading fanfiction written by teenagers more than a professional author.

Shorter than expected and not as gripping as the TV story

Loved it, Wells holding Clarke back as Talia burned alive. Voices were made for the 100, almost as if they were there.

First step, first gripping step.

I first heard about the 100 series from the TV show and fell in love with the story and the characters! I've watched all 3 seasons twice so far and hanging out for the fourth. It took me a while to realise they were based on a book so I jumped at the chance when I found it!
Initially disappointed when I found that the book and tv series are almost completely different in every way. Besides the very main characters and the basic plot of the story line. Once I was able to seperate them and think of them as completely different stories, I have found great enjoyment in both :)
Great story for those who love a bit of sci fi/romance/action/thriller.
The audio was great! I love that they used both a male and female voice for each specific characters chapter, it helps you relate more to them.

Book vs TV

If you watch the tv show, the books will disappoint you. There is a lot of teenage drama and a lot of romance whereas it is lacking a lot of the action and thrills from the tv show. The readers are very good, I like the subtle differences in voices for different characters although there were some mistakes with character names. Most of the characters from the tv show are not in the book series and it is a very different plot. I personally get really bored with stories where the main characters fall in love in less than a week and their entire reason for living is their other half, but it might be your cup of tea.

I love the series and this is very different. I like the differences. The change in the story line is good. a few new faces from the series. It is well read. I don't mind that there are two narrators, it changes it up a bit.

different but great

I thought I was getting an adventure book not a romance novel. the writing is very basic and boringly simple and the voice actors make me thing the book is read by a 5 year old

what even

The book focuses far too much on already established relationships. It needed to focus on survival, not love
