The immaturity of the killer is well done.
2023 AUDIBLE REVIEW
The immaturity of the killer is well done by the narrator. I wanted to slap him senseless.
As stated in my book review, I really hope he becomes someone’s pet in prison. He has no reality about life and it will be good punishment to have gone from the high way he was living, to, using Eve’s words, living in a concrete cage.

4.5 stars as killer is so unlikeable. Loved the personal time and family interaction in this book.
Great that everyone, including the family from Ireland, were at the medal ceremony.
And I loved how Eve, when talking to Commander Whitney, finally realised she was at a place where the job was not everything anymore. She has found her life balance. Though she does have a hissy fit at one point and takes it out on Roarke, to their mutual enjoyment.
The little scenes with Nixie were so sweet and positive.
The killer, boy, what a whiny, lazy, selfish, entitled child he was. Totally unlikeable and his thinking process, absolutely self absorbed.
Killing those who dared to tell him no or god forbid, told him off for being lazy.
I really hope he becomes someone’s pet in prison.
I have owned most of these books in paperback for years but now have them all in eBook format, so I am rereading this series once more in order, updating and replacing missing reviews.
Even knowing what is in the future, it is absolutely no hardship to reread this series and I am really enjoying how all the characters are growing and changing.

Enjoyed it as always!
Given a few reviews had canned Thankless in Death because (they said) too much torture I thought about skipping this one. But I dived in anyway and, no offence intended, feel that the nay-sayers are ultra sensitive. While the murderer thought about severing his victims' body parts he didn't actually do it, and there were a lot of wholesome life-affirming characters to balance his evilness. I tend to agree with reviewers who say that the story lines are becoming less original but I really don't care as what I enjoy most is the gentle and witty reparte between some of the main characters. I chortled at Eves's malapropisms and the reactions of the detectives in the bullpen to one of their number wearing an outrageously bright item of clothing. I found myself surprisingly moved by the award ceremony. I love it when characters from previous stories wind back in with an update. Enjoy!
